versal favorite, and phc will be favored with a

The opera selected is Auber's beautiful Grown
Diamonds, in which Miss Caroline Klchings and
Mrs. Seguin appear to the very best advantage.
To-morrow (Saturday) afternoon Fra Diavolo
will be presented at the matinee, with a flue
cast. At the request of numerous patrons, Miss
RichingR will order the family circle of tho Aca
demy to be opened to the public, admission to
which has been fixed at the reasonable rate of
fifty cents for each person.
Anon Strket Theatre Benefit of Mrs.
John Drew. The uelihtful new comedy of
Surf is having a very successful run. Mrs.
John Drew, as tho female New York fashion
able leader at Cape May, has made another hit.
Her acting is capital, as usual, and she is well
supported by all the members of the stock com
pany. Everybody should go to the Arch and take
the spray from Surf at sight. It is just as re
freshing now as in the summer solstice.
At thb Walnut, Mr. Forrest is favored with
Immense audiences every night. This evening,
for his benefit, he appears in LU greatest role ot
"Jack Cade," in the Hon. Robert T. Conrad's
great tragedy of that name. Mr. Forrest an
nounces that" it will bp impossible for him to
repeat any character. The great Philadelphia
tragedian Is supported by by Mr. C. Barton Hill,
Miss Liilie, MUs Alice Gray, and all of the com
pany favorites. On Monday evening only repre

Mas. D. P. Bowers continues her brilliant and
successful engagement at the Chesnut, For her
benefit to-night she plays "Kathleen Cavanagh,"
in the Irish drama of Peep o' Day. At the
matinee to-morrow afternoon, Lady Audleifs
Secret, for the last time, with Mrs. Bowers as
"Lady Audley." Oa Monday evening, Marie
Antoinette.
American Theatre Mr. Fox continues to
present a mopt attractive variety entertainment
every evening and on Saturday afternoji.
Several distributions of useful presents take
place evfry week.
The Philadelphia Circus, at Tenth and Cal
lowhill, is one of the most deserving institu
tions of the kind we bavc ever had here. Tiie
performance every evening is chaste and attrac
tive. Mr. William La Rue, the celebrated bare
back equestrian, appears every evenlug sup

concert Is to be given on the 11th instant, at
Concert Hull. The graud orchestra will be
under the ba on of Mr. Simon Hassler, the ac

Uabelmann'a next costume concert takes
place at Concert Hall this evening, when he
will be assisted by a number of eminent artistes.
These concerts have grown into great favor of
late, and we arc glad to record the fact that Mr.
Habrlmann's enterprise is being accorded its
just patronage.
Macallister and his lad v, the accompli-hed
illusionists, will appear in Philadelphia, at Con
cert Hall, next Monday evening, to remain for
twelve nights only. One hundred dollars' worth
of presents will be distiibuted at each enter
tainment. Lovers of One classic music should not
forget Carl Hentz's Thursday matinee concerts
at Horticultural Hall. Tickets ean be obtainel
at any time at Bonei's masic store, No. 1102

Tpnison & Co. are doing a great business with
Frank Browerand other noted sable serenaders,
at their new Philadelphia Opera House, in
Seventh street, below Arch. "The Progress of
the Nation," a new "kink," will (shortly tbe pro
duced at a cost of over $5000. Such enterprise
deserves encouragement.
