About 11 o'clock this morning r lawyer entered a broker's offlce on Third street, and requested the privilege of looking at certain documents bearing upon a case In which be was engaged. The papers were submitted to him without any suspicions of his Intention, when the en terprising attorney deliberately Btarted for the door. But he was a moment too late, and before he could make bis way to tbe street, he found himself on bis buck on tbe floor, with two "beats" upon him. The enterprising attorney did what he could, but he found himself powerless In the hands ot two strong men, and was forced to give up the stoleu documents. A policeman was then called In. and requested to bold the prostrate man In his undignified posture until the papers were securely stowed away In tbe lire-proof. The brokers then informed tbe nollceman that tliev had no desire to prosecute the offender, but would be greatly obliged to him If be would conduct the lawyer to the street. This request was compiled w ith, the attorney, as be reluctantly left the office, remarking that "he merely desired to have the papers recorded."
