Mr. Theodore Ctiyler, cUmi-uum of the Com mittee on Plans, aio puhtnl.tcd a valuable re port, staling that "the pre-crvttiton ol the purity of the water supply of the city of Philadelphia .is declared in the act of Asm mbly to bo one of the chief objects of the 1'uik. " The ground proposed to lie embraced in this Park the Com mission think absolutely necessary to carry out the objects of t he act of Assembly, and also give to the citizens of Philadelphia a Park not only noble in its proportions, but peculiarly adapted lor the purpose, and can be embellished at a far less cost than that of any other great fmrk of which the Commission have any know cJge. The Park proposed will contain over twelve hundred acres, including the water snr luce, and over six hundred acres of it already belongs to the city. A broad carriage road on ooinsiaesoi vne river, as ir up as the Wissa hickon, Is also one of the propositions contained in the report. Chakgk Against Policemen. A tearing took Elsce yesterday afternoon, before Alderman lougherty, in the case of Officers L. T. Manuc here and G. H. Miller, who are charged by John Markwald with false arrest and imprisonment. It is alleged that the ofllcers named went to the house of Mr. Markwald, at fifth, and Spruce streets, on Monday night last about 12 o'clock, and OUicer Miller called Mr. Markwald out aud persuaded him to walk, a short distance down Spruce street, when it is alleged that the officer took hold of Markwald and eald that he would arrest him as a vagrant. Markwald then de sired the officers to return to the residence of Mr. Nones, when he would piove to them that he resided there. It is said that thev refused to return, and took Mr. Markwald to" the Union Street ftatlon House. He was there placed in a cell and kept until between 1 and 2 o'clock on Tuesday, when he was placed In the prison van and taken to Moyamensiug prison. The defen dants were each required to enter ball in $1200 to answer at Court. Falling of a Derrick Yesterday after noon, about half-past tour o'elock, a derrick fell at the old Pennsylvania bank building, at which some thirty men were encaged. Six of them were injured, and one of them, named Michael Duvall, residing at Third and South streets, was bauly injured about the head and shoulders. He was taken to his residence in a feeble condi tion, and the injuries received are considered quite serious. The others were injured more or less, but were able to walk lo their home3. A large stone was being raised at the timo of the occurrence of the accidert, which was produced by a stay giving away, Cjuite an alarm was created in the neighborhood by the occurrence., for a time, and it was supposed that a greater amount of injury had been o-'cttsioned than was really the ca-e. Bcr.oLARY. Last evening, about half-past 10 o'clock, a private watchman saw a man coming out of Bullock's cloth (-tore, at Second and Chesnut streets. On examining the door he found it unlocked, aud ran after the suspi cious iudividual. captured him. and .handed him over to a policeman. The store was then examined, when it was found that the safe had been opened and ransacked. The prisoner was taken to the Central S'allon. where he wa9 recognized as John Cronin, rfho was arrested some time a-?o on the course of robbing a store on Market Vtrcet. He will lave a hearing at the Central Station this afternoon. The Movameksinq and Hope Trouble. Last night the Special Committee of Councils, appointed to investigate the dulieulty between the Moyamensing Hose and Hope Engine Com panies, held a session iu the Common Council Chamber. Mr. John L. Shoemaker acted as Chairman, and John Eckstein as Secretary. The Committee last night took testimony in the Hope vs. the Moyamensing only, reserving a hearing in the contra case for a future occas'on. Judgb Ludlow Serenakbd. Lat evening a number of citizens met at the Hall In the Twenty-seventh Ward and proceeded to the residence of Judge Ludlow, with a band of music, to congratulate him on his re-election.
