Paris, Sept. 10. Tbe preat obstacle which Parian tourists coiuplaiu or Is the bridpe at Kehl, between France nud Baden. It not only Impedes their view ol the Iren running Rhine, but U has to be .opened before them at (iermnn bidding, a thing par iculurly palling to the French. Those anions them who annually try their hand at roulette on the otuer side of the irontier notice the complarcut smile, of the cu3tom-hou?e ollicera when their countrymen return with .collapsed carpet-bap?, (which arc scarcely looked iuto, and no other more useful nrticle of apparel in their hands than a utbiiH. To be plucked just when one's wines were nigh soaring is an uncomfortable predicament, but to be smiled at complacently aiterwarda adds bit terness to inward commune. Notwithstanding the bridge and the Custom House, and in dctiance of smiles, the beju montic has invaded Iiadcu; the Dhcupss dc Jlouchy, M'me I'ilte, Baroness du Port d'Alis, Comtcssis de Bngne, and other less-r planets, are shining at the races which have opened the season. Already Lave peremptory telegrams, shortly worded, expressed a waut common to mankind, "send m mey." The expression varies, truly; some udopt a politer form, "please, tin;" or put the case thus: "Watea pawned " The moat startling are; "A revolver or the needful." Meanwhile the uual routine of watering places is gone through. Celebrated singers per lorm vocal teats at and acamst each other, mar tjrized by tho applause awarded to their rivals iilternately. Excellent music Is also heard all over the Park, where bauds are hidden behind shady provis, or diplaytd in elegant kiosks of carved wood work. Groups of the most taste fully dressed women arc seen everywhere, some wandering about alone by twos and twos: theso are the poetical, who choose a companion according to the color of her attire; or by sixes and sevens; these are ever surrounded by a halo of fluttering dandies, with their hair cut a la Byron (short and frizzled), very bare neck, white or lawn neckties, striped with pink or Hue. Female attire is mostly white pique, white merino looped up over colored silK, or white Algeiian cballies over delicately tinted foulard underskirts. At Ems and Ilomburp costumes are more con spicuous. The last novelty there is the new ring belt and sab, rather mote complicated and ele gant than practical. It is made of two large rings in Etruscan gold, hung behind from the waict, supporting a third, through which two Wide sash ends How. Plaid silk and plaid satin are much in vogue ftt Ilomburp. But the most convivial parties are country excursions and so called picnics, for which steel grey lawns aud muslins are pre ferred. Ou these occasions the great effort is to have recherche toilets without the help of silk or satin, and nothing is easier, so much can be done with crosscuts of alpaca on alpaca and a few beads. Thus a very inexpensive dress is made of maize colored goats' hair, with everything en suite as to match, aud no other trimmings than a narrow Algerian ribbon sewn down the middles of cross cuts placed In dtll'crent patterns down the seams. These crosscuts form festoons, Vandykes, stripes, Grecian equates, and even leaves. The flower trimming will be adopted, too. next winter. It is tbe same as an artificial flower, only made of the material employed lor the dress, and of velvet or satin. The fuchsia bell is a favorite; it is made like fringe; the leaves and stalks are embroidered. Dahlias are the easiest to execute. Ihey are made of silk petals, and sewn so as to form a perfect flower: each petal is usually bordered round with small blackheads. It is a great complication of toil and taste for dressmakers, but very lovely down the sides and front of silk robes. Large china asters are another convenient flower to make in Aa American lady lately wore a white tull e entirely trimmed with white daisies made of ' poult; the hearts were of yellow satin. These daisies were large round ttie bottom and de creased towards the waist; they were still smaller round the sleeves, and low bodice. liobes tend to become longer than ever be hind when not bunched up a la Marie An toinette. Adelina Pattl Is to oo the great attraction at the Italian opera this mouth, and has arrived iutt as M'me Ristori is leaving Paris. The latter great artiste only remained here long en )Ugh to superintend the making ot her cos- tunes for tue new arania iu wmuu auv 10 m up petr ai "Marie Antoinette." Her toilets are nvuniciito. ami thouah I have been favored with avewof them, it was conditionally, for they ma- not bo described until they have been worn at tie tirst performance. Rivalty reminds me that I did not describe two it tbe Empress' toilets when in the North. The one she wore at the gala theatrical per formance was a vaporous white tulle and the diamonds of the crown, the brilliancy of which was couded by a very large tulle veil, thouah they iparkled through like constellations in a nnst. The ball dress the next day was butter cup tiimmines (satin rouleaux) ou white tulle. Hei head-dress, foliage of diamonds and saprhres. , . . Altbugh the season really Is over, Paris is very til of tourists and provincials, and many we domed to asphalt by the visits of relatives and lr-udi who manage to come to Paris late, just t prevent one iron scouring, over moor and fofst p-iade with a guu on one shoulder. The wirst of it Is that they mut have all the slght-i'eh)g from toe top of Colonue, iu the ceutreot tbe Place Vcnlome, to the sewersof tbe vU uudererouud. A clever writer lately de'cribd hu impression when he ascended the eaid Cconne, to be that of au insect crawling up a corksrew, and I fancy the pleasure of visiting the Par. sewers must be comparable to that ot crecpiuithrouph an old meerschaum pipe. A ttor is that of the bridceroom that was to be, and who having been shown some of his future iosa' trousseau, asked how the long, white, havy skirt in such piles were to be dis posed of "They.re petticoats," answered the mother; Alice pis on four ol these every day."
