4th. The following counties shall each elect one

6th. Tbe following election districts shall each elect
three dolegatea: The counties of Chesterfield and
Powhatan; the. counties of Caroline, Klug George, and

thampton; the counties of Jtath, H Ighland, and Rock
bridge; the counties of Carroll, Floyd, and Grayson;

and Westmoreland; the counties of Patrick and
franklin; the counties or Prince Kdward and Appo
mattox; the counties of Prince George and Dinwiddle;

III. The polls will be opened at everv place of

Tuesday, the md day of Odtober next, and will be kept

election and making returns.
VII. Fourteen days previous to the election the
Hoards of Registration will meet at the Court Heuse,
r other more convenient central plucein each county
and city, and make a final revision of the registra
tion, as required by section seveti of the act of Con
grees of July 19, 1867. For this purpose the boards will
remain In session five consecutive days (Sundays ex
cepted). The changes made in the lists of registered
oters will be promptly reported to these head
quarters. VIII. The Presidents of Boards ot Registration will,
without delay , cause copies of this order to be posted
In three of the most public places in each district and
ward.

Academy or Mcsic. This establishment was
crowded last evening, for the first time this
season, to see the Black Crook, which Is giving
Universal satisfaction now. The danseuses pre
tniertm, M'lles Betty and Emily Kigal. Fepita.
trunk, Antoneno, and Albertlni, are artists of
the greatest excellence. The "Mermaid Dance"
by the Farlslenne ballet is one of the neatest
and prettiest things ever seen here, and last
night received a deserved encore. The "Incan
tation Scene," the "Golden Realms of Stalacta,"
and the "Ball-room Scene," are the finest of the
play, and are really beautiful. The eharaoters
In the drama are performed by "Oceana," Miss
Katie Palmer, Mrs. F. Mordaunt, Mr. Alex
ander Fisher, Mr. Byner, Mr. lien. You or, aud
others. The ballet is vory largo, numbering
seventy-five young ladies, and the dresses un
usually brilliant.
Walnvt Street Theatre. The popularity
of tbe Bhakesperlan spectacle, A Midsummer
IfigtU'i Dream, is yet unabated. The gorgeous
scenery by Tel bin forms a study rarely enjoyed
In any land, and never before la this OOUotry.
It should be remembered that this most suc
cessful spectacle will be presented for the
thirty-fifth lime to-night, and that it can only
keep the stage at the Walnut for a few nights

Washington, Sept. 18. I am Informed that
the President has decided not to make any fur
ther removals of Cabinet officers. He has slated
as much In his Cabinet to-day. He maintains
that his time Is now growing very short, und
Congress will oppose any appointment he may
make, and either keep objectionable persons or
keep his friends out.
The President has aleo declared his belief that
he cannot further interfere in the matter of
Southern Reconstruction. This' chagrins the
Democrats, who had hoped that they could force
the President to further and more desperate
steps than those he hns taken. . x. x.
Naval Intelligence.
Washington, Sept. 18. Despatches have been
receive! at the Navy Department from Lieu
tenant Commander L. D. Beardslee, command
ing United States steamer Aroostook, an
nouncing the arrival of that vessel at Point de
Guile, Island of Cevlon, on the first of August,
and that she would 6ail the next day en route
for Hong Kong.
Aleo, from Commander Ii. L. Law, announc
ing the arrival of the steamer Tacony at Ports
mouth, N. H., on the 15th inst., nine days from
Pensacola. The vessel was ordered north
by the Department on account of the yellow
fever breaking out on board. The following of
her oflicers died of yellow fever at sea: Mid
shipman Robert U. Griffin, Carpenter William
Giliis, and Acting Third Assistant Engineer
Nicholas Cussln.
The Portland Fire.
Portland, Sept. 18. The loss of the Portland
Gla?s Company by the destruction of the main
building will be something over $100,000. The
building was totally destroyed, but much of the i
stock of goods was stored in other buildings,
which were saved. The Company was Insured
for $46,000 in the following Companies: Hart
ford, $10,000; Connecticut, $5000; Narrasansctt,"
$5000; Putnam, $3000; Standard, $5000; Albany
City, $5000; EnterprlHO. $5000; Cincinnati,
$5000. In the Lorillard, North American,
Philadelphia, and Norwich, It is reported, the
Company had nothing, the policies having
expired. .
