Uhifobm Badge. A meeting of tbe Presi
dents and Secretaries oi the didertnt fire com
panies was held last evening at the hall of the
Empire Hook and Ladder Company, lor the
purpose ot adopting a badee to be worn by mem
beia oi tbe diflerent companies embraced in the
Fire Department of this city. Mr. Moulder was
called to the chair, and F. A. Morrell acted as
Secret ary.
The committee appointed at a previous meet
in e to consider tne matter pre-erted their re
port. They state that the crowds of idler and
rnnncrs attendina fires interfere with the work
ings ot tbe members of tbe Department, and
that they also incite to riot and tbeft, as well as
discord amoeg the companies, when all should
be peace and harmony. The committee feci
satisfied that the only way to avoid such diffi
culties 1b by adopting a uniform badge. They
then presented tbo following:
Jicmoed, That a badge be adopted which none
but members of tne Department shall be per
mitted to wear.
Xetolved, That tbe secretary of each company
keep an account of the number and name of the
member receiving the same, and to furnish tbe
Cbul Engineer a copy of tbe reeister, so that in
case ot any rjlsdemeauor on the part of auy
member registered he could be reported to tho
company cf which he was a member, for their
action.
The report was received and the committee
coutlnned. Atter a long discussion on the pro
priety of adopting the recommendations em
braced in tbe repoit of the committee, tbe meet-

Thb Democrats of thb Eleventh Ward.
Last evening a meetirg of delegates from the
Wards composing tbe Third Senatorial District
(the Fifth, felxth, Eleventh, Twelfth, Sixteenth,
and be veu teeth), was held at the corner ot New
Market and Brown streets. There was a full
attendance. The meeting was in the interest of
Captain C. M. Donavan, and in opposition to
David M. Nagle. Allan Weber, of the Sixteenth
Ward, presided, and Alderman Kiddie was Sec
retary. Captain Donavan made an affidavit
beiore the Alderman, In the presence ot the
meeting, setting forth tbat on the morning of
the Convention, between 9 and 10 o'clock, Nai;le
met the deponent, and raid that it deponent
contested any of his (Magic's) delegates it would
be as much aa his (Donovan's) life was worth.
William Lawrence, doorkeeper of the Conven
tion, also made an affidavit to the effect that the
Convention was managed in an unfair manner
towards Donovan; that his delegates were ex
cluded snd bogus delegates admitted, and that
rowdyifim made the nomination.
A delegate from the Sixteenth Ward also made
a statement, corroborating the charges of un
fairness made by Lawrence.
Captain Donovan then made an address, in
which he aid that he intended submitting the
questiona to the City Executive Committee; that
he was willing that a third man might be Sena
tor, but, . if he could prevent it, Nagle should
never be. He asserted that rowdyism - and
cheating made the nomination. At the conclu
sion of his address the meeting adjourned, sub
ject to the call of the Chairman.
