It is now finished and ready tor use as tar south as Jeffer son street. In all the pouring rain yesterday afternoon the men encaged upon the pavement 'were at work, and the movable furnaces eui- ploved in beatiDg the gravel and melting the pitch were sending up their clouds of smoke ln the face of the descending torrents. Drenched to the skin, the men yet worked on right cueeruy. xne street is unpavea ana pre pared lor the flooring as far as Master street. while the timbers and blocks are lving along the sidewalks south of Thompson street. The water runs from tbe finished portion of the pavement as from the surface of a polished ' table; no mud holes or gullies can be found. The street affords as clean and clear a surface lor travel as it aid in the most dry and favor able weatner. as a nignway tor venicies it cannot be surpassed. What will bo its condi tion when the frosts of winter enter the pro und and b''ein their upheaving process in the spring, remains yet to be seen. A Camp Meeting Robhery. Rev. A. Man shin.
