GRAND K NTKIt PllISE 11 SANCTIONED BY ALL TUB LEGISLATURES OF ALL THE STATES! 1 NO MORE POVERTY! I A Fortune for the Pitiable Sum of Ten Cents I I NOW IS THE TIME TO SUBSCRIBE U rnosr-ECTus ok ocr tlan. "Lave in it, drink of It, ' Dissolute man." We have been induced by the many urgent requests of the citizens of our country who Lave been unfortunate in many past enter prises, such as the Crosby Opera House and the Gettysburg affair, to get up a plan that overcomes all objections heretofore urged against those other and, we must say, com paratively dishonest enterprises. We purpose having our head-quarters in Boston, a city which everybody knows would not tolerate anything of an immoral char acter. We therefore take pleasure in announcing a GRAND PROMENADE CONCERT AND na chase, In Aid of the Asylum for Aged and Decayed Punsters. This institution wag established in this city previous to the war, and as that event took the legs oil so many people, the institution now stands on an entirely different footing. We might add, in view of that fact, it is in a knee-dy condition. ' At this Musical Enter tainment we propose giving away presents in value to the tune of $2,500,000. There are to le 5,000,000 tickets, issued at the low figure of 10 cents each, which, it is expected, will be ample to pay for the tickets and advertising, leaving a handsome profit. This Asylum was organized prior to the Big Organ, hut has had less blowing, consequently made less noise in the world. It has the re commendation of several Boston names, in cluding Boston Corbett. There are now here so many punsters out of Ilolmes, that the supply of puns i3 beyond the demand, and constitutes, in mercantile language, a "glut" In the market; and our only hope is that they will he eventually washed away and absorbed in the Atlantic I We herewith give an extract embracing a Bmall "List of the Premiums,", taken at ran dom from our new Illustrated Catalogue, which is now ready, and which we will send on receipt of 12 cents ' in stamps. We print, also, a few of the recommendations from gen tlemen well known in the political, literary, and scientific world. ASYLUM FOB AORD AND DECAYED FUNSTERS. " The object of yonr Musical Concert and Pig Chase meets with my hearty approval. I have often thought of an Asylum of that kind for the writers on the paper In which I am con cerned, but my time has been too much occu pied with the Union League Club to organize It. 1 look forward to the time when somebody else will take the laboring oar, and I can farm a little, fish a little, and write when I foel in a bad humor." From W. II. Beawked, Author of Answers to OurresjyondentM," efo. Washington, D. O. "Yonr Orand Promenade Concert and Pig Chae ere betlttli-g the nineteenth or twentieth century, either. There never have been, nor are not now, nor ever will be, such presents again as ars now ofTVred by you to a united people; and It Is expected that the drawing will be over in Uly days." From Bruno icon I. Westward towards the Paclflo Ocean, making with Us connections an unbroken line ACROSS THE CONTINENT.1 The Company now offer a limited amount of thelt ' FIBST MORTGAGE BONDS, Haying thirty years to run, and bearing annual intl rst, payable on the first days of JANUARY and JULY, in tbe City of New York, at the rate of SIX PER CENT. Ill GOLD, AT Ninoty Conts on tho Dollar. This road was completed from Omaha SOS miles west on the 1st ot January, 1M7, and Is fully equipped, and, trains are regularly running orer It, The Company has now ou hand lufllclent Iron, ties, etc. to finish the remaining portion to tbe eastern base of the Rocky Mountains, 211 miles, whloh Is under contract to be don September 1 of this year, and It Is expected that tbe entire road will be In running order from Omaha to Us western connection with the Central Pacific, now being rapidly built eastward from Sacramento Cal during 1870. MEANS OF THE COM PAST. Estimating the distance to be built by the Union Faclllo to be 1605 miles, the United States Govern ment issues Its Bix Per Cent. Thirty-Year Bonds to the Company as the road Is finlthed, at the average rate of about 128,250 per mile, amounting to $44 208,oou The Company Is also permitted to Issue Its own First Mortgage Bonds to an equal amount, and at the same time, which BY (SPECIAL ACT OF CONUREH3 ARB MADK A FIRST MORTGAGE ON TUB ENTIRE LINE, the Bouds of the United Slates being subordi. note to them. The Government makes a donation of 12,800 acres Ot land to the mile, amounting 20,032,000 acres, estimated to be worth tpo.ooo.OOO, making the total resources, ex elusive of tbe capital, H8,4i5,ouo; but the full value of the lands cannot now be realised. The authorized Capital Btock of the Company is one hundred million dollars, of which five millions have already been paid in, and of which It is not supposed that more than twenty-five mlllloue at most will be. required. The cost of the road Is estimated by competent engi neers to be about one hundred million dollars, exclu sive of equipment. PROSPECTS FOB BUSINESS. The railroad connection between Omaha and the East Is now complete, and the earnings of the Union Faclflc on the sections already finished for the month ot May were $201,781 These sectional earnings as the road progresses will much more than pay tbe Interest on the Company's bonds, and the through business over the only line of railroad between tbe Atlantic, and Paclllc must be immense. VALVE AND SECCB1TY OP THE BOMBS. The Company respectfully submit that the above statement of facts fully demonstrates the security of their Bonds, and as additional proof they would sug gest that the Bonds now offered are less than ten mil lion dollars on 617 miles of road, on which over twenty million dollars have already been ezpenned. On 880 miles of this road the cars are now running, and the. remaining 187 miles are nearly completed. At tbe present rate ot premium on gold these Bonds pay an annnal Interest on the present cost of MINE PEB CENT., And It Is believed that on tbe completion of the road, like the Government Bonds, tbey will go above par.
