DISCOVERY
OF TREASURE
IN
EGYPT. , !
A paper published la Alexandria, Egypt,
"Every tne Is talking for the last few days
about a treasure found In the Province of
Fayoam. The story goes that an old resident
of the Province waited lately in a mysterious
manner upon his Htuhness, and asked permls
Ion to make a search in the garden of an
ancient Coptic convent, now abandoned, with
the View of discovering a treasure which old
manuscripts described as belug burled In a cer
tain spot. The Viceroy granted the necessary
nrrralssion, allowing the applicant to retain a
third of what he might discover. J he re
vearches commenced, and are said to have
cpeedlly brought to light a treasure consisting
partly of Ingots and partly of very ancient gold
pieces, ral her larger than napoleons, of a total
value represented at about fifty millions of
francs. The discovery having been telegraphed
to Ras-el-Tln, the Viceroy left to Investigate
the matter In person. Can It be the cash-box
f Amenopolls XXXVII. which that monarch
lost on a journey, according to Inscriptions oa
the obelisk of Luxor ?
A ROYAL SILVER WEDDING.
On the 28th of May the King and Queen of
Denmark celebrated the twenty-fifth anniver
sary of their marriage. Copenhagen was gaily
decorated In honor of the event; the corpora
tion provided a free dinner for seven thousand
poor people; a children's festival took place in
the garden of Kosenberg castle, where five
thousand little ones assembled, and sixty depu
tations from all parts of the country came to
offer congratulations. Among the presents to
the King and Queen were a large silver vase
from the Prince and Princess of Wales, and
another from King George or Greece; a silver
ta urn and teapot from the Crown Prlueeand
Princess of Russia, and some beautiful articles
manufactured at the 1 loyal Danish porcelain
works. The inhabitants of Flensburg add other
parts of North Schleawlg also sent presents to
what they still consider their rightful king and
iueen, but the collections had to be made In
secret. Several large amounts have been col
lected with a view of founding benevolent insti
tutions In commemoration of the day.

kind, and many of them have been patients ol
the Insane Asylum, who are now permanently
cured by onr medicine.
Hundreds of thousands of dollars are spent
