When Conductor Welch, oi the Troy and Adams BuilToad. stated that Mlsa II. had pro ceeded to Troy on his train, on Fridiy, reachlne the Union Depot at the usual hour. On aliehtlng from the cirs in the depot, MWs H. was metbjb Rev. Mr. Merrill, who con ducted her to the Troy House coach, in which both rodo to the Troy House. On I riday evenliiR Merrill was feen by a number ot North Adm atyjuaiutances in the Union Depot, about takinK the train for Utloa. It has since been ascertained that M sb II. started for Greenfield, Whsb., on the same afiernoon, and also that Merrill preached in Utlca on Sunday last. Keaching OreentleM. Mifs II. wrote a letter to her father telling him of ber whereabouts, and requestlne that he would visit ber and take her home. This letter was received on Monday, SDd Mr. H. immediately started for Greeudeld. Previous to the reception of the letter at Adams, however, Miss H.'s brother and brother-in-law tarted on tbe train for this city, in quest of the TnisihiR lair odc." While here they learned by teleciaph of her whereabouts, also of her visit to this city, and returned borne Tuesday morn in?, nailstif d that no wrong had been committed either by Mr. Merrill or the young lady. She miirot have been somewhat indiscreet, but more than that her friends do not accuse her ot. Attempted Wife-Murder and 3 ulclde of tlte llusbaud, A domestic trngedy was reported at U o'clock last evening, nt No. 158 Elizabeth street, where a married woman was shot by her husband, vuo subsequently committed sulode. Poisoned with Ire Cream Five Bank Oliclals In Danger. From the Memphis Avalanche of the 7lh. Yesterday afternoon the gentlemen employed In the Merchants' National Bank, on Jefferson street, feeling the beat oppressive, determined to cool off on ice cream, and sent out for a supply. When it came five of them partook freely, and were almost immediately after wards attacked with symptoms ot having been poisoned. They complained of great ptio, and were severally purged and vomited. Dr. C. H. Stanley was called iu and gave the requisite medical care; but the poisoned parties were all eo badly affected tbat they could not be re moved, but laid all night in tbe bank, which closed at 2 o'clock in the alternoou. It Is feared that one of those poisoned will not recover. The ice cream cot eaten wa taken to Dr. Btadley's oilice, and (here examined, and found to have in it a portion of sulphate of copper. Further chemical analysis will be made, but the copper la doubtless the poison that was con tained iu the ice cream. On examination ot the place where tbe ice cream was made, it was found tbat a copper ireezer had been used. If it was cleaned before using, it is very singulur tbat the poisan should have impregnated the icecream. Cutting Glass under Water with Scissors. The American Artisan republishes Iront the London Photographic Mews, the following ac count of a process for cutting glass, which might be useful in cases where a glazier's dia mond cannot be procured : "In order to insure success, two points must "be attended tofhrst and most important, the glass must be quite level while tbe scissors are applied; and second, to avoid risk, it is belter to begin the cutting by taking off small pieces at the corners and along the edges, and so re duce the shape gradually to that required, for if any attempt is made to cut the class all at. once to the shape, as we should cut a piece of card board, it will most litelv break just where it is not wanted. Borne kinds of glass cut much better than others; the softer glasses cut best. The scissors need not be at all sharp, as their action does not depend much uoon thu state of the edge presented to the glasi. When the operation goes on well, the glass bceaksawty from the scissors iu small pieces in a straight line with the blades. This method has ottcn proved very useful in cutting ovals, ete., which would be very expensive if ground cut; and though the edges are not so smooth as may be desired for some purposes, tbe method is worth knowing." Illness of Sir. Charles Kean. The Liverpool Daily Post, ot the 30th ultimo, records the sudden and severe illness ot the emi nent tragedian, Mr. Charles Kean. Bills were promptly circulated, announcing tbe aornnt termination of his raraumgnt Btatingthat he would never ajram appear before Liiverpuui auuimue. iuu certtucaie of W.
