Bubscrlptions of mouey, flour, sugar, crackers, soap, coal, etc. etc., are being pretty freely made. The agent has informed us that Messrs. Evans & Watsou, of No. 24 South Seventh Street, 1'hlladelphia, have just subscribed a fire-proof safe lor the use of the Homestead. This proteotorof tho valuable documents con nested with the Institution was much needed. It is, however, exceedingly trying to the feel ings of those coucerued to be compelled to reiuse the numerous applications now seeking for admission (some very distressing cases have of late presented themselves); but until mean enough to enlarge the premises are placed in the Treasurer's bands, not one orphan more can be sdmiited.
