Senate. A resolution was pa-sed donating the building matertal at Camp Chase to tbe State of Illinois. W for an asjlura tor disabled soldiers. Tbe Pacific Rallrond committee were discharged Irom tbe consideration of a number ot bills granting aid to railroads. A joint resolution was oticred to authorize a trial or the comparative resistance of iron-clad ships and stone fortifications to tbe fire of heavy artillery. The Judiciary Com mittee reported the bill to restore the poapes9ion of lands confiscated by the Rebel authorities as belonging to lojal ritlzeus, to their legitimate owners. A bill was reported, authorizing the Lighthouse Board to make certain changes in the locations of lights to be established on the Southern coast of tbe United States. A bill to confirm the sales of lands in South Carolina by the Tax Commissioners was introduced. The hill authorizing mail service between San Francisco and the Sandwich Islands was re ported. Tbe bill authorizing the returning of taxes erroneously paid by national banks was passed. . The credentials of Air. Trumbull, Senator from Illinois for Fix years fir am March 4, were presented. Tbe Indian Bureau bill was taken up, but during its consideration the Senate went into executive session, after which a recess was taken. EVENING SESSION. The consideration of the bill transferring the Indian Bureau to tbe War Department was re sumed, but, without concluding the subject, the Senate adjourned. House of Representative!. It was ordered that, for the remainder of the session, the sittings of the House should com mence, at 11 o'clock. The bill for the erection of a submerged tubular bridge across the Mis sissippi river at St. Louis was passed. A bill -was reported providing ways and means for the redemption of $140,000,000 compound-interest notes falling, due within the present year. It Allows the banks and parties holding them to deposit them with the Treasury as a special loan, at three and sixty-five hundredths per cent. interest. Mr. eteveus onereo an amendment, which was adopted under the previous ques tion, to authorize the Issue of $100,000,000 of legal-tender notes, without interest, for the payment of the corapound-intere6t notes and accrued interest. The second section repeals the law authorizing the retirement of $4,000,000 of legal-tender notes per month. On the passage of the bill as amended the yeas were 75, nays 84, thus defeating the bill. A recon sideration was men oraereu, ana tne socona section was tben struck out, after which the bill was passed yeas, 95; ni.ys, 66. EVENING SESSION. A resolution was adopted instructing the Secretary of War to make a report in reference to seized properly taken in Louisiana, and the disposition of the same. Tbe Secretary of the Interior was directed to order a survey for a proper place at which to locate a bridge across the Potomac river witbin the District of Co lumbia. Resolutions ot tbe Kansas Legisla ture were preeented, urging tbe admission ot Colorado as a Slate, notwithstanding the Presi dent's objections. A resolution was offered directing the Secretary ot the Havy to order an examination into the facts attending the loca tion of the Naval Academy at Annapolis, with a view to removing the same; but the resolution was laid over until Tuesday. Leave was asked to oner a resolution instructing tbe Ways and Means Committee to report a bill authorizing the if-aue of five hundred million dollars of legal-tender notes for the redemption of the Seven-thirty notes as they become due.
