When, in 1815, the Uiiited Slates acquired Louisiana by purchase, the validity of D'Antorire's and similar claims were recoanized. The lands covered by his patent were appro priated to the u?e of the (iovernim nt, aud a claim from his heir- lor indemnity has been before ConpTess lor many years; but alihouprh Its Justice hus been recoehized, and a bill giving relief has been several times passed by one or the other branch, it has never been acted on by both Houses of the same Congress.
