Tjik Common Pastime of persons who
find themselves entiustod with a horse and
wason appears to bo a reckless use of the whip
and a loose holding of the reins. So lrequent
ot late has this practice of fat'aud furious
driving become, that we areseldom without an
item of this class. The transgressor in this
respect last evening was one Lewis Foulkes
who ran over an old lady at Seventh and Spruce
street. Fortunately sup waa not seriously in
jured, and Alderman Tunison decided taut the
majesty of the law was satisfied with a mere
tine. But we think that somethinff more serious
than fines will have 1o be Inflicted, it fast
driving is to have aa end put to it by tho autho
