Vatican, whero she spent the rest of the day.

suade her to return to the hotel, but to no pur

of the Pope. As her Majesty seemed determined
not to leave, the Pope ordered apartments to be

A further letter informs us that the Count de
Flandrcs, her brother, has arrived, and will re
conduct her to Mirainar as soon as the state of
.her health will permit.

The Sicilian Insurrection.
The condition of Sicily appears to give rise to
fresh uneasiness. Tbe insurgent bands driven
irom Palermo have taken to the Interior, and
an animated discussion has arisen between
General Cadorna and the archbishop of that city.
In a letter written to that prelate, the General,
accuses the monks and priests, lind even nuns,
ot having had no hesitation in placing them
selves at the head of the rebels to excite them
either to rapine or pillage. He reproaches the
Archbishop with having done nothing to put a
atop to the excesses of these unworthy ministers
of the sanctuary, and aks how it happened that
he, whose mission U peace and alliance, did not
interfere amongst a populace intoxicated with
robbery and murder. Monslgnor Naselli, in his
reply, repclu the responsibility which it is
wished to place on the Sicilian clergy.
