IUVFSIIGATION OF JIOUSE KOBBEBIES. There was a very interesting hearing ot several persons concerned in recent house robberies at ibe Central Station yesterday afternoon. Wil liam Donntllv atiau Dunn, Charles Lechler, and Geoiee Ellison were chanced with being implicated in them. Frank AlcCarten testititd to the robborv of Air. Clyde's residence, No. 1710 Arch -treet, on thol3ih of September, from which a considerable quantity or wearing ap parel was stolen. He did not, however, identify any of the delendants. Thomas J. Willits testified that he was work ing at the Church of the Covenant, Filbert ptreet above Seventeenth, when the robbery at Mr. Clyde's bouse was committed. Several men -(fame and stood about the cburch for some time. He recognized Leonard Dul'ord, otherwise Shoey Mdier (row under commitment for tne robbery) Lechler, and Donnelly as the men he saw. Miller asked Donnelly when he expected h a pa to come home, and tbe reply was that he ex pected him home in a couple of weeks. This waa intended to Induce tbe belief among the workmen that they belonged to the premises of Mr. Clyde and hnd a right to enter. Alter re mainirc at the church for some time, two of the men disappeared Miller aud Donnelly Lech ler remaining. Finally, be too lett, and the rotberv waa discovered a short time after, when Miller ha I been arrested. The witness did not recognise Ellison as one of the party. James T. Rutter, eexlon of the Church of the Covenant, saw the men about the church, aud thought be recognized Lechler and Ellison, but would not swear positively to it. Mis. Alarenrct Vaux testified that her resi dence, No. 1148 Arch street, was broken open on tne 24th o August, and robbed of a variety of silk dresses, made and unmade, siler ware, and other articles, altngo'her ot considerable value. The thieve tint pru d open a rear window, then broke a panel out of a door. A chamber door was forced open, but the bureau drawers were unlocked at the time. Airs. Elizabeth J. Sharpless testifled that her dwelling, No. 1315 Filbit street, was broken into to? ards the end of September. 'A kitchen window wa forced open to admit an entrauce. Seven dresses were taken, besides a number of silver spoons, butter knile, etc. Albert Ahtler tiaiiried that Airs. Gough"s bouse, at Sumner aud Seventeenth streets, was broken into some time aeo and ransacked from top to bottom. A quantity of wenriiia; aoourel was earned olF. but he could not plve an idea of the value of the property stolen. The thieves entered by prying opon a side door wuh a jimmy. John Ward testifled that the residence of Air. Edmund Smitb, No. 1604 Arch street, was robbed on the tth of September ot goods to the value ot about 1800. A jimmy bad been used on tbe window shutter. Leonard DuorJ, otherwise Miller, Implicated in several of the robberies, was now called to the stand, and testified that h and Lechler aud Donnelly robbed the house of Mr. Clyde, but he said be did not know anything abut the rob beries at the residences of Mrs. Vaux and Mrs. Sbarplees: all he knew about was tho robberies at Mr. Clyde's and Mr. Frishmuth's.
