(ALLKNTOWN DAILY NEWf.)
I hercbv acknowlcdtro that the charecs and
specifications ot Iraud, which I published ia tho
AUentown Davy News, respecting tne "Grand
Trial of KtwiNa Maciiinfs," held at Island
Park, New York, lus., September, were altoge
ther without foundation in Jact.
I thoug.Lt that the Horace Machine really
should have gained more of the advantages
claimed than were a ardod by the ludoros, and
very naturally suppose! that there ba'l buen
some kind oi "trickery" practised, and so eta ed
in several publications; but upon a more tho
rough investigation ot tbe matter, I learn that
the whole trial was conducted in a lair and
honorable manner, and that the Willcox &
tJIbbs' Machine demonstrated, in tbe estimation
of the committee, some thirty-live points of supe
riority over the Florence Machine, in competi
tion, and that the Willcox & Glbbs obtained the
Highest Premium.
This 1 Ireely admit, in justice to the firm
whose character I so unwarrautedly called into
question. Wm. 1 Wolle,
