Another of the boys whom John Hvck implicated in the burring of Mr. Hatch's barn on the 15th of .Hay, 18(16, has been aoquittod bv the Jury. John Beck was convicted ot the citme of setting that barn on fire at tho last term ol the Camden county Couns, but bis sentence was sus pended, iu order to give hiin that status which would enable him to implicate others in thes acts ol incendiarism. In cousequence ot this heimpti ca'ed three other, two ot wnom have already beon acquitu d, and it is prubab e thai a ue v trial will be prantcd to one who was Iound guilty at a previous trial. Ibe.e acts of incendiarism have created intense excitement in tho pu mIio, so muoh so, in met, as to often eiioit the ungenerous remark that the boys charged ought to be convicted whether they were gut.ty or not these remarks wore hignlv im prudent and injudicious, but intelligent and noble minded jurymen did not allow them to bias thoir judgment nor sense ot justice in the rendition of their verdicts. Children's Home. The influence and good which the Camden Home for Friendless Chil dren is exerting is of the most salutary and philan thropic character. A larse number of children, destitute oi parents or guardians, have beon taken to this institution, where tueir wants have boen care fully attended to, and from which they have been Bent to good an comfortable homes. Most ot these little homeless wanderers were tho e belonging to brve soldiers who ost their lives in dofonse of our national flag, and whose mothers have either passed away, or are too destitute to give them that tender care their lutuie good nav require. The managers are making every preparation within the scope of their abilities to increase the usolu'ness of this Children's Homer The Public Schools. The Board of Education are using all the means within their con trol to advance the usefulness of the publio schools ot Camden. They dosiirn at, an early day to com mence the erection ol a new and commodious build ing, for the purpose of concentrating all the classes and departments or the schoo s in Middle Ward into ono. This enterprise has been under considera tion lor some time past, and it is most likely that it will soon be consummated It is also designed to introduce instrumental music into the public schools. This would be ot great advantage to the pupils. Strawberry Festival. The ladies con nected with the Mothodist Kpisoopal Church at Hammouton are now engaged in holding a straw berry festival, whloh is very larcrely attended, the proceeds of which are to be appropriated to wards the building for themselves a very handsome and convenient church edifice at that place. The cultivation of strawberries by the people of Ham mon ton has boen for several years past the princi pal leature In the agricu ttral development ot that city, and it has been carried to a profitable and vast exient. Tbe Late Sad Casualty. The melan- Cho.y casuality which' occurred on Monday night, by which Mr. Nicholas Landwehr lost his lite, in at tempting to get over tbe chain before the boat was fairly up to the wharf, will serve as a .'great warning in the future. ' A Long Term. The present is the longest tern ot the Court ever he'd in Camden county, It boing now in the sixth week, and there is business enough, if tried, to last tiuea or four weeks longer, but it is most likely an adjournment will take plaoe on Saturday. - To be Completed. The new Presbyte t!ani.liuroh on fourth stre-t. under the oastora care ot Rev. Mr Baker, is fast approaching comple tion, and will be huished by la l. It will hold about six hundred persons.
