It appears that a Mr. (Jallasher was walking along Lombard street, near Socond, about 12 o'clock on Easter Sunday nizut, when he was overtaken by a man who represented himself to belong to tho Harbor Police, and who entered into conversation with Gallagher. In an un guarded motrent Gallagher was knocked down by the pretended police officer, and robbed of a pocket-book and cont and hat. Yesterday evening Gallagher was walking along Walnut slreet in company with Officer Droomal, when he passed a man having on him what he (Gallagher) recognized as bis coat The fellow was stopped, but immediately undertook to make his escape. After running a short dis tance he was arrested, 'and locked up. A num ber ot pawn tickets were found in his possession. The Great Tragedy. There- are no new developments in the great murder case worth recording. A man made his appearance at the Central Station this morniDg, who claims to be an old acquaintance of Probst, both in Germany and this country. He stateB that he knows his whole history, and requested permis sion to see the prisoner, In ordei to try and get a full statement from him in the way of a con fession. Chief Detective Franklin will accom pany the man to Mo varaensing Prison to-dav, and afford him an interview with Probst. It is esti mated that fen thousand persons visited tho scene of tho tragedy yesterday. Penknives were used all over the premises, and thousands of persons carried away relics. Some bark was discovered on a tree containing blood, but tho knives of relic huuters stripped the tree of Its bark. A Bold Robbery in Day-time During the funeral of the Dearlng family, on Saturday afternoon last, the lannly of Mr. Grubb, who reside In Juniper street, below Locust, went out' to witness tho sad scene. A thief took advan tage of the absence ot the family, and broke into the house, and commenced ransacking it from top to bottom, in quest oi valuables. Tho bed clothes were upset and household utensils scat tered around in crreat contusion. A twenty-dollar note, which was overlooked by the thief, whs found on the floor when the family returned. It la believed that the thief secured a watch, which he carried oil'. Burglar Attacked by a Dog. On Saturday nltrht the residence of Mr. Charles McGiuley.at Manayunk.was entered by a would be burglar, by climbing over a shed aud eet'iug in at a back window. The family hearing a noise, werejaroueed, when the fellow proceeded to effect his escape. A dog belonging to a Mr. Brown, who resides next door, made an attack on the retrenting burglar, and grabbed him by the leg. The owner of the dog came to the thief's rescue. Not understanding the real facts of the case he called the animal off, when the thief beat a hasty retreat and got off, A Sacril16I0TT8 Thief. On Friday night the priest's residence, adjoining the Catholic Church, on Price street, Germautown, was en tered by a basement window, and the sacriligi ous thief attempted to break open what is known as the tabernacle, in which certain sacred arti cles are kept, uud which stood upon an altar. The tabernacle was defaced and broken, but the thiet aid not succeed in getting anything. A hole was drilled throueb. tha door of tho taber nacle, but an entrance could not be effected into it. Arrested After a Lono Drive. Henry Manderflcld, alias Wilson, hired a car riage and pair of horse at Heading recently, under pretense ot taking his sister out riding. His ride was a long one, tor be drove all the way to this city, where he attempted to sell the team, w hich was valued at $050, tor $225.
