The executor are directed to finish the bouse
nt the corner of jNineteenih and Chesnut streets,
according to the plant, of John McArthur, Jr.,
architect, and to build a stable tor the accommo
dation hii the borsr s and carriages. They are
nleo to fttrr.uh the said bouse in a style to cor
respond therewith, under the direction ( his
wile and daughters, and to keep op tho said
bouse as a home for his family, at the expense of
the estate. The furniture, Lones, curriapes, etc.,
to be renewed when necessary. The house in
which he resided at the time of hisleath,in
Third street, below Walnut, with its furniture, to
be sold.
The executors are also directed to bir.ld up the
property at Vmo street whuff with a hotel or
stores, in their discretion. They are also
instructed to set apart the sam of $400,000 out
of 1 lie income, as a fund to rebuild in caso any
of bis property is destroyeJ by fire or other
accident, and ulso as a fund to provide a suitable
settlement lor each of bin children us shall here
alter marry.
The widow receives $11000 per annnm nnler

Edward M. Paxnon and Ebon C. Jayne are the
truMeee-. In addition. La leaves her the use of
the house at Nineteenih and Chesnut, which, as
before stated, is to be kept up at the expense of
the estate. ,
By the express terms of the will no intoxicat
ing diinks are to b kept in tho new house,
except tor medicinal or culinary purposes.
The business ot the house of Dr. 1). Jaynt &
Son, in which he owned a controlling; interest,
is to be carried on by the surviving: partners
until ull bis sons and grandsons now living shall
arrive at full age, in order to' allow such of them
as, in the opinion of his executor., may be
qualified to enter the firm und perpetuate- the
business.
The executors and trustees under his will are
bis lriends Rev. J. Wheaton Smith, Charles II.
Itopers. Edward M. Paxson, Henry Lewis, and
John M. Whitall. They are also the gsardiaus
of his minor children, and also of all his grand
children, so lur us they take any estate under
tho will.
roLicn Items. Albert Beck had a hearing
at the Central Station yesterday, , on tho
charge of arson, in setting fire to tho stable of
John Smith, near Fifteenth, and Cowslip
streets on the night of Monday two weeks ago.
The accused, who is in fhe Marine service, was
brought on iroui New York as soon as circum
stances seemed to justify it. Several witnesses
were examined, and it was tei titled that Beck
was in the neighborhood of the stable Isarued a
short time before the tire broke out, and that be
called at a tavern at Filteenth and Callowhill
streets, only a few minutes before the lieht
was seen, and said that there would be another
soon, the fire in Third street, near Race, bavin
been burning for some time. After the arrest of
Beck, as Oilicer Berry testified bs admittea
being at the stable when tho match wa3 struck,
but denied that he did it. lie subsequently
made the same adonis-ion to Firo Marshal
Blackburn. It was considered a suspicious cir
cumstance that Beck left the city the morning
alter the fire. Cue of the witnesses testified that
the) accused had been several times arrested on
tho 'charge of arson, and hud been once con-
victed. He wss committed to answer.
Matilda Bpeucer, Tecently a domestic in the
.employment of D. W. Sellers, Esq., had a hear
ing before Alderman Beitler yesterday, on the
charge of stealing a number of articles of silver
ware. Mr. Sellers testified that the accused left
his house at an early hour in the morning, and
that the silverware disappeared at tho same
time. A silver spoon was found in the possession
of the accused, which was supposed, from tho
enpraved letters upon it, to have been taken
from tho residence ot Judge Stroud, where
Matilda had been ut service. She was hell to
answer.
Andrew Stall was charged yesterday afternoon
w ith having: in his posaoisioii, with intent to
. pass, twenty-six counterfeit titty-cent fractional
currency notes. He is the olleced proprietor of
a lager beer saloon, on Cailownill street, near
New Market. An oilicer searched uis houso and
found thieeof tho notes in a money-drawer in
the bar-room. He then asked for tile kev to a
bureau-drawer, which Stall said he had lost.
On the drawer being opened, a package contain
ing upwards of ten dollars of the bogus trash
was found. Tbe notes found in the till had evi
dently been taken, front the package. The ac
cused was held in $2500 bail tor a further hear
ing on Monday next, The caae was heard before
Kecorder Eneti.
John W. Fox was charged yesterday morning,
upon tho oath of James Waters, a member of
Company B, 7th Regiment Veteran Volunteers,
with the larceny ot $j00. Waters allege that
on the 10th day ot April last he placed in the
hands of the defendant, for safe-keeping, the
sum of $075. with the understanding that it was
to be returned when called lor. The plaintiff
notified Fox, a short time ago, to return him
the money. Instead of doing so he handed him
but $175. The accused was held In $1200 bail
to answer by Alderman Beitler, ;
StfDDET Death. An elderly gentleman,
whose name is unknown at present, fell upon
the pavement, at tba 8. E. corner of Eighth and
Race streets, about 11 o'clock yestorday morning,
and died 6bortly after being removed to a
neighboring drag store. His death U attributed
to the heart disease. He was dressed in a black
coat, Test, and pans, a white over-shirt and a
grey under-shirt, end a higla hat, with a piece ot
paper pasted in the, inside, containing the initials
'G. P. B." Ia his pocket were found one hun
dred and nine collars and fifty cents iu money.

Fibemen Changing Location. Without
legislation by City Councils, the firemen appear
disuosed to so arranare the location of their com
panies as to best meet the rennirements of the
city. Within a few months, a number of com
nanies have r ha need their location. The Friend
ship Fire Company, now located at Third and
. Brown streets, is the latest. The company has
purchased a lot of erround. ,18 feet front by 102
leet in depth, situated at tho corner of Scpvlva
and Norris streets, and nrcnoses erectiuur a large
building sufficient to meet the requirements of
the organization. ,
Samiath School Annivekhabt. Last
evening the Juvenile Missionary Society of the
Sunday School connected with the Front Street
M. E. Church, Rev. T. A. Fernley. pastor,
celebrated their anniversary at the above
church. The assemblage was Tery large, and
tbe exercises, includirc addresses And hymns,
the latter very beautifully iting, were interesting
aDd gratifying. About five hundred dollars were
realized from the ofleiings of the tchool, which
were presented Jn a very pie alnr manner. A
laree overerre cross, eight feet and a half high,
was clerked, till it was a mass of beauty, with tho
bouquets of flowers sent rip with the amount,
and the accompylng motto by each class. Par
ticularly noticeable were a wreath of flowers
seat tip by tbe Female Bible Class, an anchor of
flowersi by Miss Lizzie Fernley's class, and, bo
sides, a rrown of flowers to crown the cros. The
audience were dismissed with the doxology and
benediction. '
Contracts Awakdeo. The Commutes
on Water, of Councils, met on Tuesday evening,
and aw arded contracts lor iron pipe, castings,
brass, etc., for 180ti, to the following parties:
Service pipe, to J. W. Middleton, at $321 per
100 pound", being one-filth of a cent, per poind
Ic'S than tho price paid in 1805. Special cast
ings, to the same farm, at $3'01 per 100 pounds,
being ene-tentn of a cent per pound below the
figure of 18G5. Brass castings, to 8extonACo.,
at 38 cents per pound. Tho price paid in 181.5
was 55 cents per pound. Loud, to Ettinge A
Bro., at !$ cents per ponnd. In 1825 the price
was 15 cents per pound. Castings for shops,
consisting of plug casern, etc., at 3Jr cents per
pound, to MUeman & bill?. I.at jear 4 ceut
per pound was paid.
Excitement on Chesnut Street.
Quite an exciting szonc ocenrred about 5 o'clock
yesterday afternoon, at the corner of Eighth and
Chesnut streets. A rather prepossessing lady,
named Georgiana fel. Sterling, ti wife ot II. II.
Sterling, of Now York, was passing down Ches
nut street, in company witli a man named
Charles Jackson, when they were seized by Mr.
Sterling, who called loudly lor the police. Re
serve Oilicer Newman rushed to the scene of
action, captured the assailed party.and conveyed
them, followed by a large crowd, to the Central
Stxtion. At 6 o'clock they were taken belore
Alderman Beitler, and bound over in the sum of
$2000 each for a further hearing on Friday next.
Final Disposition of Poize Cases.
Some of tbe earliest cases which came iuto our
Prize Court have 'ust been finally determined.
Alter decisions wers reached here they were
taken to the Supreme Court at Washington, and
tbe decisions of that tribunal, aflirming those of
the lower Court, have just been received. Tho
money which has been tied ns for several years,
pending these proceedings, will now bo disttl
buted. The names of the vessels and the amounts
are herewith given: Josephine, $90,000; Admi
ral, $7000; Herald, $70,000; and the Elmira Lor
rtelia, $10,500.
Fkom Foreign Torts. The brig Name
trip, which arrived at this port on Monday,
from Bordeaux, brought, with other articles,
the following: 190 casks brandy, 2250 cases
and 74 hhds. wine, 300 cases champasrne, 30!)
baskets oil, 18 cases preserves, 17 cases
paper, and 830 pncka-;es merchandise.
The sehooner Mary E. Smith,1 which' arrived
from Trinidad on Tuesday, brought 377 hhds.,
35 tierees, and C5 barrels molasses.
The brig Mariposa, which arrived the sanao
day Irom the same place, broajht 414 hhds. 50
tierces sugar, and 310,000 cigars.
Soldieb Obganixing. The soldiers of
the Twenty-fourth Ward have already perfected
a permanent organization, and have determined
to hold a public mass meeting this evening, at
the Commissioners' Hall, Market and Thirty-
seventh streets. It is possible that Major-Geue-ral
Geary, the hero ot the white star, will be
present to address his old comrades. His nomi
nation by the National Union Convention has
inspirited tho veterans, and they are determined
to bull rally aronna tneir old commander.
Reunion of the x. m. v. a. Tho quar
terly reunion ot tne Young Men s Christian Asso
ciation was held at their new hall, Chesnut
street, above Twelfth, on Tuesday eveninsr last.

The entertainment was diversified by vocal
and instrumental music by the Fhiloniolic Musio
Circle.
A nnmber of our most prominent merchants
were present, and expressed themselves highly
gratified with trie entertainment.
The New Coubt House. The Committee
on City Property, to which was referred the pro
position to change the location of the new Court
llonse, has determined to report aeaiust any
alteration. The contractor will therefore pro
ceed with the building according to the original
plan.
Hospital Item. A man named William
Donahue, residing at Fifteenth and Carpenter
streets, had his right hand injured yesterday by
iis being caaght between two coal cars at Broad
ond Carpenter streets, lit was taken to tha
Pennsylvania Hospital.
