Board of Trade. The annual meeting
of tn Hour of Trade wss held last evening.
4tr. fi. C. Morton m called to the chair, and
Mr. Thorntos Brown appointed secretary. Tno
annual report of tne secretary of the Board was
then read. The industry of Pennsylvania has
lieen, on the whole, very bountifully rewarded
during the past twelve months.
In ooal, aPhoagh one of the anthracite fields,
in consequence of a prolriiote.d strike m the.
part ot the miners, has iallcn some half million
tons short of its expected yield, the production
of the1 State, of all kinds, baa reachod an excess
of 1,304,331 tons of 2000 lbs. over that of the pre
vious year. The figures are 14,002,723 tons
against 12,(i)8,412 In 18ti4, worth fully seven dol
lars per ton within the limits of the estate, or,
fairly estimated, it has dlslubuted throtigtt the
vailous branches of Industry engaged in its utl
lirslion fully $!ih,01!),0G1.
Kor the first time since petroleum became an
article of commerce, we can, throueh return
made to the internal Rcvcnuo Bureau, estimate,
with as much accuracy as the sub)ect is capable
of, the gross product of the wells, without tres
passing npon tho domain of speculation. The
product returned lor May and June was 323,645
barrels, or at tho rate of 114,272 barrels per
month. From July to November, inclusive;
809,936 burreln, or at the ratp of 101,947 barrels
per month. This audition is cioubtlcs3 ownn; to
the development of the Pitliolo region. Making
for ti e year 1,943,304 bcrrls. of 45 gallons, or
S7,460,8U gallons, wortu 35 ccnta per gallon,
$311,087,797.'
The i reduction of pic iron, which up to the
publication of our last report was fully up to
60,000 Ions per month, has not quite maintained
that rate, owing to the hrrh cost of coal and tbe
tincertainty as to future "prices, caused by the
cessation of active war. t'ome furnaces were
entirely closed lor a time, and others curtailed
their operations. The. total production, esti
mating the twelfth month at the rata of tho pre
ceding eleven, has been 55'j,ko tons, worth, ac
cording to the Name principle applied above to
coal, $50 per tou, or SP27,'J9:!,5.'0, if tho manufac
ture had stopped at that point.
Aegrefjating the three a tides, we have for
them in their rudest forms:
Coal f98 019,001
l"ctroieum 8')fi'J7 7it7
Pig iron 2.s)Jtf,600
Total $158,607,358
But of the pig iron full five eighths has teen,
in tLe forges and rolling mi'lj and bloonierie9 of
Pennsylvania, advanced to ti grade worth at
least $H0 per ton, or $30 per ton on 350,000 tons,
added value, $10,500,000. Of petroleum reiined,
12.177,622 gallons entering into domestic con
sumption bos been retined in Pennsylvania,
without taking account of that which has been
taken for export, which can readilv be dist'n
fu'shed from that retlued m other States; the
value added is fully 35 cjintt per gullou on the
quantity renned, or $1,202.1(17. Tue total of the
three products is $17l.:;0,625.

The number of frcishtors engaged in trans
porting goods during tho past year was greater
than in any previous season, alchouch, of course,
the old firms did the larger part of the business.
First on tho list ol heavy shippers is the mam
moth Butterlield Overland Despatch Company,
whose business connections, extending to nesrly
every lurge city on the continent, are well de
fined anu innuentiai.
The total amount of goods shipped by these
freighters during the sca-on was 21,531,830
pounds of assorted merchandise, requiring tor
its fhipment 4!17 waeons, 6250 men, 71G4 mules,

The EuttcrScld Overland Despatch Conmanv

A COMPARISON WITH FOBMBR TEARS.
The statement of the business done this vear
shows a very gratifying increase over that of
any previous season. The trade has grown and
is growing witn wonuenui rapidity, we una
in our tiles statements of the business during
the vears 1858, 1851), 1860, 1803, and 1864, as
follows:
Waannt. M?n. Mur t. Oren. Lbs. Md..

1863 6 4'iiM5j
1SC4 lO.OSU'SO
For the vears 1861 and 18C2, no statement was
published, but during these years, just follow
ing the outbreak ot tne war, mere was a great
tailing off in private freighting, it was not till
1864 that the business resumed its wonted
activity, and exhibited again that greatness
which mutt soon render tho commerce ol the
Plains the uo?t wondortul development of the
West. Tho past year presents a most striking
example of this astonishine growth. It is hevea
tunes larger than thut of 1858; five times larger"
than thut of lHii); nearly three times as lare as
that of 1860; four limeB grea'er than that of lso:i;
tud exceeds the trade ot 1SU4 by 4,803,4 to pounds.
THE PICTURE.
It is estimated by the most competent judges
that the freighting buslnes during tno year lti'JO
will be at leatt as large asjain as during the just
kpr'oh. The ramd increase ol our western
