shows the expanses of the pas: year amounted to
$12.304i8. The number of patients treated
diirlnp the year was 24S. Of these there were
admitted during the year, 224. Number dis
charged during the year, V.L. Leaving under
treatment Decern be SI, 1KB."., 18. Of those dis
charged there were: Cm cd, 127; improved, 81;
incurable, 18; eloped, 5; died, 1.
. During the year there -were two hundred and
fourteen surgical operations performed in the
hospital. Fr-jin patients aii'i other sources there
has been received and paid to the Citv Trea
surer, during the rear, the sura of $2382il3.

ot the Fenian Brotherhood. District of Phila-
del r his, was held on Tuesday evening, eleven

resolutions reported a scries, in which devotion

Alleged Highway Hobber. Barney

Fifty-eighth Pennsylvania Begi-
mekt. The CHth Pennsylvania Regiment, Colonel
Cecil Cluy, anived here yesterday afternoon at
3 o'clock, trnm Baltimore, and proceeded to
Camp Cadwaladcr. This was formerly Colonel
j. iticnter Jones' regiment, and tt lias done im
portant duty to the Government. It was orga
nized in July jIhoi.
Society fob Alleviating the Mise-
KIE8 of Prisons. This soc etv held its eightieth
anniversary on Thursday evening, n still pur
sues its quiet career ot usetulues. The most im
portant work which it has on hand is that of
reform in the county prisons, which are, in too
many cases, simply schools ol crime.
The Boys' IIigh School. The semi-an-,
mial commencement of ihe boys' Central High
School will take place at the Academy of Music
on the 16th of February. The examination for
the admission ol candidates, commences on
Monday, the 6th inst. The examination of the
pupils of the achooHs now in progress.
Slight Fire at the Navy Yard. A
slight fire occurred about 4 o'clock yesterday
afternoon on board the United States supply
steamer South Carolina, which is anchored at
the noi th dock of the Navy Yard. It was extin
guished by mears of the engine at the yard.
Professional Committed. Barney Mc
Ilhenny, an alleged professional thief, was
arrested at the Academy of Music, on Thursday
evening by Detective Henderson. At a hearing
yesterday aiternoon he was committed to prison
lor ninety daye. -

' Lighthouses on tub Southebn Coast. In
conseaueuce of Congress having as yet failed to
act upon th recommendations of the Chief of
the Lighthouse Buard. very little progress has
, been made in the work of iv-establishing light
' houses on the Southern coast. There are yet
upwards of eighty lighthouses and boats along
the coast from the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay
to the const ol Texas that need to be DUt in
working order. Many of the houses and boats
are onlv Dartiallv damaged, and would reauire
very little time and expense to thoroughly repair
them, while again some ot tua mot extensive
works have been entirely do?' roved. As soon as
Congress makes an approiu'ation for tbis pur-
