to inform you that I do not consider the per,tle-
men named therein to be proper parties to In
epect the private a flairs and financial resources
of the Fenian Brotherhood, lor the following
reasons:
1st. Mr. Meehan stands accused, by three of
the highest omciais ot the Irish republic, with
Deng tne primary, n not tne sole, cause ot the
xecent arrests in Ireland.
2d. Mr. O'Rourke's financial accounts as late
Treasurer of the.Fenian Brotherhood are not yet
ciearea up featisiactomy, wnne ne reiuses to
eubmit ins Dank Dooks to inspection.
3d. 1 have seen the names of all three In con
neetion with an illegal and unconstitutional
session of the Senate of the Fenian Brotherhood,
paid to be now neld in this city. For the alter
reason as ferthe lormer, you will pav no atten
tion to the demands of these gentlemen, who.
with their associates in illegality, are obviously
conspiring me disruption, u not tne destruction
