But the price of a cord of wood is only a
single Illustration of the low opinion which

will sooner bring the Kehcl army to a surren

ficczing bodies. The llebcl statesmen or
letrlslutors seem to comprehend this Important
physiological and psychological fact, and they
am proceeding with all due haste to make
provision for it. In the Kebi 1 Congress, on
lat I'ridiiy, a bill providing f.r the recovery
of the currency from its depreciation by ex

both Houses.
On the whole, the Rebel finances are in a
bad, if not desperate plight, and are not likely
to be retrieved by any human ingenuity. In
the meanwhile the National Treasury is pros

We regret to see that many of our citizens
have adopted an idea that to be pro-slavery Is
to be aristocratic. Such an Impression con
tains within itself the very essence of shoddy

be proud of them, then the very gentility
which you claim will prevent you urging your
claims upon others. If your pedigree Is not

is only expose yourselves to general ridicule.
