toe official reiiertoi Ucneral Hkintzkliiah appear
tittle linetilar It the fact that General Uookeb, who
mm tided a division of HKUcrzaxat AB"a Corps, in
aua cttcial report to liEiNTZcuiAa himtrlf, makes
tola statement: "About three o'clock the enemy
ommeneed a vigorous attaek on McCall." (Hee
Xebelllon Becord, vol. B,p. 260.) Thus, both KrtMUKn
and Hook eb being in my immediate yicinity, and
their nnasked testimony as to the hour at which my
dlTisioii was attacked agreeing with my own ollicial
( port, tt la Tendered patent that my division was at.

With reopect to my division haviiiK given away in
MM thai an honr, I need only say llutt, as tho test -
TAony of every othoer commanding a regiment and
aaany others of the division proving the assertion to
be unfounded, has been published heretofore in my
feport, I shall now only refer to tlie irank and manly
testimony ot General iltAlix, in a letter to mo,
dated Camp Wsrronton, Va N'oy. 7, IStti:
It was only the stubborn resistance
flbred by oar dirialon (the J'ennsvlyania Itesorvos),
psolonaluR the contest till alter dark, and chocking
kll that time the advance ot the enemy thut enabled
the concentration during the .night oi tho wholn
army on James iliver, which saved it." (See printed

It is thus rendered equally patent thut my division
did not giro way in leas than au hour, but fought
till night put an end to the battle.
