Miss, ml is to-day a Umllcal Kmancipation

the wrongs perpetuated on her loyal people nndcr
the bchobeld rule, which have driven thousands

which ftirlottghed Union soldiers traveled north

lie had thus killed thirty of tnem, mm by man,
without risking his own life. The votos of these,
cast In solid phalanx, elected the "conservative"

carried at all, are now to carry the State for Mc

THE DITTY or TIIK 1IOI R.
Trm Ot rtnut.
We suppose that every man and woman in the
land knows that the armies of the Union which
re actively engaged in their heroic efforts to
crush out this Southern Rebellion, are greatly In
need of reinforcement. Licatcnant-Uencra
Grant himself has but recently declared that "If
bo bad now but hundred thousand fresh men
he could, in tlfiy days, do up all the fighting that
needs to be done during the war," "This," wrote
our Washington correspondent the other day,
"Is no shallow hi arsay j it is the authentic decla
ration i f the bigh name given; and the semi
ment Is Htllrimd by every military man 1 nave
lately m t."
Think of this, ye who long for peace! Think
Of it. ye who desire a restored Union ! Think of
it, I rave young men, and all who are patriots or I
lovirsof American liberty ! And do not only
unna ot ir, out time eucu action as the thought
And iho circumstances require. If this genera
tion are worthy of the glorious Uniju whi. b their
fathers formed and the freedom which their
fathers fought for, let thorn now, la the moment
of the Unit u's greatest need, in the day of free
dom's peril, prove it by the course they adopt.
Orant says "but a hundred thousand fresh
men." W hat is this to the twuiuy-iwu millions
ol the Nor b r 1'i this great populous Kuipiro
Ktate of New York it is less than twentv thou
sand men. Had we the right spirit, this city
alone ought to put that force in the Held iu a

- In fifty days we may have peace. This is no
flippant prophecy ; but it is the asseveration of a
man who, more than auy other, knows the whole
military power or tbts Rebellion who has fought
it grtatest armies in Tennessee, In Mississippi,
in Gtotgiii, und iu Virginia wh i has confronted
its gieutest leaders, assailed and captured ire
strongest positions, and routed on a dotea fields
Its largest armies.
"Iu btty d ..y" before the mellow sun of the

winter are upon us he "can do up all the light
