Nate t. The mail on the route Nb. 9, is,
11 and ti is to be carried in a lvheaJ carri
age or by a led horse. A penalty at ther ate
of 12 cents a mile will be incurred hy the
contraftor for each time and mile that he
shall carry the fame without making use of
either a carriage or led horse. No altera,
tion will be made in the times fixed for the
arrival and departure of the malls in tliefe
routs.
Note 2. The Po(lmafter-General may al
ter the times of arrival and departure at any
tiuif during the continuance of the contracts,
he prev'roufly stipulating an adequate com
pensation for any extra expence mat may
be occasioned thereby.
Note 3. Fifteen minutes shall be allowed
for opening and doling the mail at all offices
where no particular time is fpecified.
NeUe 4. For every fifteen minuter delay
(unavoidable *ccidents excepted) in arriving
after the times, in any contrail,
the contractor shall forfeit one dollar ; and
if the delay continue until the departure of
any depending mail, wherety the mails def
tinedifor. fuc.h depending mail lose a trip, an
additional forfeiture of five dollars (hall be
incurred.

proposals for what sum he will carry it

state in his proposals, the alterations desired,
and the difference they will make in the
terms of his c»ntra&. This note does not
apply to the routs No. 9, 10, 11 and 12.
No alteration will be made in those times.
