Upon my return home 011 Tuesday
morning, after a week's enforced ab
sence, I was surprised to find reports in
circulation thai I was no longer a can
didate before the Democratic voters of
Centre county for nomination for the
I office of Register. These repoits are
unauthorized, incorrect and unfound
ed. I have not withdrawn from the
contest, and my narno thereof, remains
before the public as a candidate. I ask
my friends in all parts of the county 1o
favor me with thfir support, believing
that my past devotion to the Demo
cratic party and its principles, entitle
me to the recognition which I now ask
at their hands. .My present duties to
the Company in whose service 1 have
been employed during the past twelve
years, render it impossible for me to
make any further personal canvass of
of the county, I can only rely upon the
favor and assistance of my friends,
promising them, whether successful cr
unsuccessful, that their efforts in my
, behalf will be held in grateful remem
