A special dispatch from Inka, Miss., says that at seven o'clock on Tuesday evening the place was visit ed by a terrible storm. It came from the southwest and look a northeast course, striking the south eastern portion of the town, on a hill mostly occupied by colored peo ple, instantly killing one colored woman and her child and four other colored children, two of whom were not found until yesterday, and then a quarter ot a mile from home, the head of one being severed from the body. Eight other colored persons were wounded, one of whom died on Wednesday morning. The others who were wounded are doing well, though one has his thigh broken :u.il another his arm. Four houses were blown down and one church. A wagon was car ried about a mile and embedded in the ground. The tornado lasted but a few minutes, and its track was not over two bundled yards in width. It swept everything before it. Its course was towards the Mississippi river, where it struek Newport, badly damaging that town and breaking a child's arm. Some of the timbers of the houses blown away were found two miles distant. The present number under the constitution is 200. There is hardly a doubt that this measure will find favor with tbe people. The increase of representatives has not improved the character of legislation in the least, independent ot the wholesome restrictions of the new Constitution. We hope the meas ure will succeed. From Bcllefonto we have the m telligence that ilie much mooted questions, the Aaronsburg road and the Millheim borough, are ooth de cided in the affirmative—that is both are granted by the court. These questions, especially the road, have agitated this entire section very fiercely and lor a long time, and now, that both towns have just what they want, may we not hope that the hatchet be buried, and this sanguinary local war cease ? We dislike strife—it is not congenial to our phlegmatic constitution. Let us have a general hand shaking all around, figuratively streaking, and be friends. But one thing remains to he done and then every body and everything should be lovely and happy. The Toad to Coburn should be converted into a turnpike as speedily its possi ble. As it is, the burden *.o com plete and keep it up wijl be *oo iieavy for Penn township. It should not be asked or expected of her ; and so we say let the citizens of borough and township unite in this enterprise and before spring the pike will be a lixei fact, legally speaking, and Penn township will tints be relieved from a burden as unfair as it is onerous. OILDOM ITEMS Your correspondent went out to the country last week for recreation and among other places was invited to a wood-chopping ; for among very many of the farmers here, such parties are of frequent occurrence, and they get their corn busked, their wood chopped, &c., without any ex pense except the boaiding, for every body goes and they seem to enjoy themselves as well as the Germans used to at the old-fashioned apple cuttings, or "snitzings," as they were called. The ladies do the cook ing, &c., while the men are engaged in more muscular exercise. Saw many people from good old Centre County. There are very many protracted meetings in progress now, but those which are held by Mrs. Dawson and Miss stra:ton, both celebrated re vivalists are. the most successful, for scores are being converted. About the middle of February a champion shooting match 15 to take place in Franklin to which all the shooting clubs of Western Pennsyl vania are invited. The distance is to be two hundred yards, and each one to have five shots ; the cham pion is to receive a silver or gold medal, most likely the latter, as each member pays a fee of $1 for the chance to shoot. The snow is leaving us. The colored brethren are having ; a great meeting here. FETKOKKUM. Chew Jackson's Host Sweet Navy Tobacca. 47-1 y Rev. W. 11.
