DEMOCRATIC COUNTY CONVENTION- At a meeting of the Democratic County Committee, held in Bel ford, on Monday, Feb. 14th, the following resolutions were adopted: Rexo/red, That it is the sense of t his Committee that a County Jonvention should l>e called for the purio-e of ta king into consideration the propriety of altering and revising the rules of the Democratic party of Bedford county governing nominations. Rexotoed, That such Convention is hereby called to meet at the Court House, in Bedford, on TUESDAY EVENING, March 1, (Special Court) and that each election district shall l>e entitled to one delegate in said Con vention. In pursuance of said resolutions a Convention composed of prominent Democrats from a large majority of districts met at the Court House, in Bedford, and adopted the following: Remixed, That the Rules of the Dem ocratic party adopted in the year 1869, l>e suspended tor the present and that a county convention to consist of one delegate from each election district be called tn meet at the Court house in Bedford, on Tuesday evening of April court, for thepurpo-eof determining the propriety of changing the rules at pre-ent governing the party. Resolved, That the chairman of the Democratic County Committee is here by instructed to give notice through the columns of the lied ford GAZETTE that an election wilt be held to elect delegates to said Convention, in the several districts of the county, on Saturday, tlie 23d day of April, 1870. By authority of the above resolutions, a Democratic County Conven lion is called to assemble at the Court House, in Bedford, on Tuesday evening, April 26th (Court week), to consist of one delegate from each election district in thecounty, and the Vigilance Commit tees of the respective townships are le quired to hold an election in their said districts, for the election of one dele gate, for the purpose aforesaid, on SAT URDAY, APRIL 23d, 1876, between the hours of 2 and 4 o'clock in the af ternoon. II EAD OF NAVIGATION.—A Bid re cent'y p ssed the Legislature, author izing the Pennsylvania Canal Compa ny to abandon theeaual from this place to Hollidayshurg, a distance of 39 miles. This may be good news for old Huntingdon, but it is certainly bad for our western neighbors. Huntingdon under this bill becomes the head of Navigation.— Man itor. PLAYING HANGlNG.— Thursday iast several young lads conceived the id* a of a game of hanging and at onca re pair* d to Mr. Benj. Graffius'yard to complete arrangements. A gallows was formeu by placing sticks across the trellis ot a grape arbor. Upon this platform a lad named Cunningham was placid, one end of u rope adjusted around his neck aul the other end fastened to the cross-beam of the arbor. The strips upon which lie was standing were then kicked from under his feet and he fell as far as the rope would allow and for an instant bung by the neck strug gling for life. Fortunately the cross piece to which the rope was attached, broke, or we wouid have to chronicle a sad death instead of this narrow es ca{*e. Young C's neck was quite blue and but a few more seconds would have caused death.— Monitor.
