MIDDLETON'S
WONDERFUL JP A I N C U R Es
A sure remedy for Rheumatism. Neuralgia. Lum
bago. Growing Pains. Sprains, Bruises, Stiffnes,
of the Joints and all similar diseases.
This wonderful remedy is composed entirely of
vegetable ingredients. There are no injurious
substances used in its manufacture.
For assurance of its excellent properties, read
the following certificates
BEDFORD, May 8, 18S9.
I take great pleasure in giving my testimony to
the value of' Middleton's Wonderful Pain Cure ''
I have been a martyr to Rheumatism. For two
months previous to Feb. 2;'.h, last. 1 was suffering
intensely with pain so severe, that during all that
time I had not one night of comfortable sleep. I
could not put my hands to my face, could not
comb my own hair, nor feed myself; but alter
having the Pain Cure applied once, I found relief
enougn to give me comfortable sleep, and with its
steady use, I continued to get better, and now at
the end of ten weeks from its first application, I
have comparatively free use of my hands, sleep
well and can attend to business. It has done me
more good than all other medicines I have ever
used put together, and I cheerfully give this cer
tificate of its value.
ELI M FISHER.
BEDFORD, April 14, 1869.
Mr. W. W. Middleton,
This is to certify that I was taken with Rheu
matism, in my right shoulder, on the evening of
the Bth iast., so that I was unable to raise my
hand to my face. I got some of your Pain Cure
and applied it twice, and was entirely relieved.
I would recommend to every one who suffers with
Rheumatism to give it a trial and be cured.
Yours Ac., A F. MILLER.
BEDFORD, May 17, 1569.
Mr. Middleton,
DEAR SIR —I have used several bottles of your
medicine in my family, and find it to be all you
claim for it. Yours, truly,
JOHN HAFER.
BEDFORD, May 13, 1869.
This is to certify that I have used ••Middleton's
Pain Cure," for Rheumatism, and was very much
benefited by it. JOHN HARRTS.
BEDFORD, May 18, 1869
This is to certify that I have used Middleton's
Liniment, for the Rheumatism which I bad in my
right shoulder so bad that I could not get my
hand to my head without great pain, and after a
few applications was entirely relieved.
L. F. DART.
BEDFORD, May 1,1869.
Mr Middleton.
Dear Sir : Mrs. Bowser was in much suffering
for some four weeks with Rheumatism, and got
some of your Pain Cure, and the first night I
applied it it eased the pain; and after keeping
on using it for two weeks, she was restored to
health. I feel it to be my duty, as it is a pleasure,
to write this recommendation for the benefit of
others. JACOB BOWSER.
BEDFORD, May 16 1869.
Mr W. W . Middleton ;
sir—l procured a bottle of your Liniment for
Rheumatism, and it gives me great pleasure in
saying that after using it for two days, my rheuma
tism was completely relieved. My sister wag
suffering, at the same time, with Inflamatory
Rheumatism in her right hand and wrist —after
using it for several days she was relieved. I
consider it the best remedy I ever heard of.
JOHN KEEFE
BEDFORD. May 24, 1869.
This is to certify that I have used one bottle of
Middleton's Liniment, for Rheumatism, and tbink
it a good cure, and would recommend it to all per
sons that are afflicted with the above disease
AUGUSTUS CARVER.
BEDFORD, May 26, 1569.
Mr. Middleton ;
Sir —I procured one bottle of your medicine and
used one-half of it for Rheumatism, which effect
ed a permanent cure up to this time. I cannot
hesitate in saying that it is the best remedy I ev
er used. A. B. CARN.

H A I R V I G O R,
FOR THE RENOVATION OF THE HAIR.
THE GREAT DESIDERATUM OF THE
AGE.
A dressing which is at once agreeable, healthy,
antl effectual for preserving the hair. Faced or
gray hair is soon restored to its original eolcr and
the gloss and freshness of youth. Thin hair is
thickened, falling hair cheeked, and baldness of
ten. though not always, cured by its use. Noth
ing can restore the hair w here the follicles are de
stroyed, or the glands atrophied and decayed.
But such as remain can be saved lor usefulness by
this application. Instead of fouling the hair with
a pasty sediment, it will keep it clean aud vigor
ous. Its occasional use will prevent the hair
from turning gray or falling off, and consequently
prevent baldness. Free from those deleterious
substances which make some preparations danger
ous and injurious to the hair, the Vigor can only
benefit but not harm it. If wanted merely for a
HAIR DRESSING,
nothing else can be found so desirable. Contain
ing neither oil nor dye, it does not soil white
cambric, and yet lasts longer on the hair, giving
it a rich glossy lustre and a grateful perfume.

Villi's CATHARTIC PILLS,
For all the purposes of a Laxative Medicine.
Perhaps no one Medicine is so universally re
quired by everybody as a cathartic, nor was e-ror
any before so universally adopted into use, in ev
ery country and among all classes, as this mild
but efficient purgative Pill. The obvious reason
is, that it is amort reliable and far more effectual
remedy than any other. Those who have tried it,
know that it cured them ; those who have not,
know that it cures their neighbors and friends,
and all know that what it does once it does always
—that it never fails through any fault or neglect
of its composition We have thousands upon thou
sands of certificates of their remarkable eures of
the following complaints, but such cures are known
in every neighborhood, and we need not publish
them. Adapted to all ages and conditions in all
climates; containing neither calomel or any dele
terious drug, they may be taken with safety by
anybody. '1 heir sugar coating preserves them ev
er fresh and makes them pleasant to take, while
being purely vegetable no barm can arise from
their use in any quantity.
They operate by their powerful influence on the
internal viscera to purify the blood and stimulate
it into healthy action —remove the obstructions of
the stomach, bowels, liver, and other organs of tho
body, restoring their irregular action to health,
and by correcting, wherever they exist, such
i derangements as are the first origin of disease.
Minute directions are given in the wrapper on
the box, for the following complaints, which these
Pills rapidly cure :
For DYSPEPSIA or INDIGESTION, LISTLESSNESS,
LANGUOR and Loss of Appetite, they should be
\ taken moderately to stimulate the stomach and
| restore its healthy tone and action.
For LIVER COMPLAINT and its various symptoms,
| BILLIOCS HEADACHE."SICK HEADACHE. JAUNDICE
lor Green SICKNESS, Bilious Colic and Bilious Fe
vers, they should be judiciously taken for each
| ease, to correct the diseased action or remove the
j obstructions which cause it.
! For DYSENTERY or DIARUHO£A, but one mild
j dose is generally required.
FOR UNNI UATISH, GOUT, GRAVEL, PALPITATION
OP THE HEART, PAIN IN THE SIDE. BACK and
| LOINS, they should be continuously taken, as re
quired. to change the diseased action of the sys
tem. With such change those complaints disap
pear.
For DROPSY and DROPSICAL SWELLINGS they
should be taken in large and frequent doses to
produce the effect of a drastic purge.
For SUPPRESSION a large dose should be taken
as it produces the desired effect by sympathy.
As a DINNER PILL, take one or two pills to pro
mote digestion and relieve the stomach.
An occasional dose stimulates the stomach and
bowels into healthy action, restores the appetite,
and invigorates the system. Hence it is often ad
vantageous where no serious derangement exists.
One who teels tolerably well, often finds that a dose
of these PILLS makes bim feel decidedly better,
from their cleansing and renovating effect on the
digestive apparatus.

MUSICAL DOINGS.— Since Mr. Waters gave up
publishing sheet music, he has devoted his whole
capital and attention to the manufacture and sale
of Pianos and Melodeons. He has just issued a
catalogue of his new instruments, giving a new
scale of prices, which shows a marked reduction
from former rates, and his Pianos have recently
been awarded the First Premium at several Fairs.
Many people of the present day, who are attract

modest manufacturer like Mr. Waters; but we
happen to khow that his instruments earned him a
good reputation long before Expositions and "hon

indeed, we have one of Mr. Waters' Piauofortes
now in our residence (where it has stood for many
years,) of which any manufacturer in the world
might well be proud. We have always been de
lighted with it as a sweet-toned and powerful in
strument, and there is no doubt of its durability ;
more than this, some of the best amateur players
in the city, as well as several celebrated pianists,
have performed on the same piano, and all pro
uounce it a superior and first-class instrument.

4 Y ER' SSARSA PA RI LL A,
FOR PURIFYING THE OOD.
The reputation this excellent medicine enjoys,
is derived from its cures, many of which are truly
marvellous. Inveterate cases of Scrofulous dis
ease, where the system seemed saturated with
corruption, havo been purified and cured by it.
Scrofulous affections and disorders, which were
aggravated by the scrofulous contamination until
they were painfully afflicting, have been radical
ly cured in such great numbers iu almost every
section of the country, that the publio scarcely
need te bo informed of its virtues or uses.
Scrofulous poison is one of the most destructive
enemies of our race. Often, this unseen and un
felt tenant of the organism undermines the con
stitution. and invites the attack of enfeebling or
fatal diseases, without exciting a suspicion of its
presence Again, it seems to breed infection
throughout the body, and then, on some favora
ble occasion, rapidly develops into one or other of
its hideous forms, either on the surtaoe or among
the vitals. In the latter, tubercles may be sud
denly deposited in the lungs or heart, or tumors
formed in the liver, or it snows its presence by e
raptions on the skin, or toul ulcerations on some
part of the body, Henoe the occasional use of a
bottle of this Sarsaparilla is advisable, even when
no active symptoms of disease appear. Persons
afflicted with the following complaints generally
find immediate relief, and, at longth, cure, by the
use of this Sarsaparilla : St. Anthony s Fire, Rose
or Erysipelas, Tetter, Salt Rheum, Soald Head,
Ringworm, Sore Eyes, Sore Ears, and other erup
tions or visible forms of Scrofulous disease. Also
in the more concealed forms, as Dyspepsia, Drop
sy, Heart Disease, Fits. Epilepsy, Neuralgia, and
the various Ulcerous affections of tho muscular
and nervous systems.
Syphilis or \ enereal and Mercurial Diseasesare
cured by It, though a long time is required for
subduing these obstinate maladies by any medi
cine. But long continued use of this medicine
will cure the complaint. Leucorrhoea or Waites,
Uterine Ulcerations, and Female Diseases, are
commonly soon relieved and ultimately cured by
its purifying and invigorating effect. Miuute Di
rections lor each case are fouud in our Almanac,
supplied gratis. Rheumatism aud Gout, when
caused by accumulations of extranoous matters in
the blood, yield quickly to it, as also Liver Com
plaints, Torpidity, Congestion or Inflammation of
the Liver, and Jaundice, when arising, as they of
ten do, from the rankling poisons in the blood.
This SARSAPARILLA is agreat restorer for tho
strength and vigor of the system. Those who are
Languid and Listless, Despondent, Sleepless, aud
troubled with Nervous Apprehensions or Fears
or any of the affections symptomatic of Weakness,'
will find immediate relief aud convincing evi
dence of its restorative power upon trial-

A YER'S CHERRY PECTORAL,
l or Diseases of the Throat and Lungs,
such as Coughs, Colds, Whooping
Cough, Bronchitis, Asthma,
and Consumption.
Probably never before in the whole history of
medicine, has anything won so widely and so deep
ly upon the confidence of mankind, as this excel
lent remedy for pulmonary complaints. Through
a long series of years, and among moat of the r-i-es
of men it has risen higher and higher in their es
tiraation, as it has become better known. Its uni
form character and power to cure the various af
fections of the lungs jind throat, have made it
known as a, .siiable protector against them.
While adapted to milder forms of disease and to
young children, it is at the same time the most
effectual remedy that can be given for incipient
consumption, and the dangerous affections of the
i throat and lungs. As a provision against sudden
attacks of Croup, it should be kept on hand in ev
ery family, and indeod as all are sometime sub
| ject to eolds and cougns, all should be provided.
1 with this antidote for them.
Although settled Consumption is thought in
-1 curable, still great numbers of cases where the
disease seemed settled, have been completely
I cured, and the patient restored to s >und health by
i the Cherry Pectoral. So complete is its mastery
I over the disorders of the Lungs and Throat, that
j the most obstinate of them yield to it. When
nothing else could reach thein, under the Cherry
! Pectoral they subside and disappear.
Singers and public Speakers find great protec
tion from it.
Asthma is always relieved and often wholly cur
ed by it.
Bronchitis Is generally cured by taking the
: Cberry Pectoral in small and frequent doses
So generally are its virtues known that we need
not publish the certificates of them here, or do
more than assure the public that its qualities are
fully maintained.

As its name implies it does Care, and does n-. t

the ague districts, are literally beyond account,
and we believe without a parallel in the history
of Ague medicine. Oar pride is gratified by the
acknowledgments we receive of the radical" cures
effected in ob.-tinato cases, and where other rea -

Unacclimated persons, either resident in, r

For Liver Complaints, arising from torpidity of
