alter May 24th, passenger trains will arrive and

Mail Train leaves Mt. Dallas at 1.00 p. m., ar
rivos at Huntingdon at 4 20 p m.; leaves Hunt
ing lon at 8.40 a m., and arrives at Mt. Dallas at
1 1 52 a. m.
Express Train leaves Mt. Dallas at 6.35 a.m.,
and arrives at Huntingdon, at 10.19 a. m.; leaves

MUDER IN BROAD TOP.— Pat. Mack
ey, a young miner, was waylaid and
murdered, near Barnetstown, last Sat
urday evening. This cool-blooded
murder has shocked the whole Mining
Region.—A gang of assassins waylay
ing a man near a populous village at 8
o'clock, p. M. It appears that the de
ceased, Mac key, refused to unite in the
"Miners' Association," and hence come
under the displeasure of its emissaries.
Four persons have been arrested, char
ged with the crime, and lodged in
Huntingdon jail. One is yet at large,
but will be followed up. Such is the
liberal working of these "benevolent"
societies, if a man declines to join them
lie must be waylaid and his scull bro
ken with a bolt of iron. If any excite
ment had existed amongst the miners
of the Region, this murder would not
appear in all its horrible nakedness and
brutal enactment, but there is general
peace at present, hence its monstrous
brutality, viewed from any light. One
of the prisoners is reported as hurrah
ing for the penitentiary as he went a
board the cars for Huntingdon. The
appearance and general make up of the
party struck the observer forcibly by
their brutal and dogged appearance.—
Their faces are uudoubtedly more near
ly allied to the bull-dog than the Cau

Dr. Paul Schoeppe, having been de
nied a new trial, was on Friday last,
sentenced to be hanged. The Court
crier, an old citizen of Carlisle, named
William Gauld, fell dead in the Court
room as the sentence was pronounced.
Scheeppe made a statement protesting
his innocence.

with Joseph Mullen, residing in Napier township,
Bedford county, to be fcnd appear at an Orphan a
Court to be held at Bedford, in and for said coun

of said John Reilly, deceased, at the valuation

yoHits to me directed, there will be exposed to
public sale, at the Court House, iu the Borough
of Bedford, on SATURDAY the 4th dsy of Sep
tember, A. D , 1869, at 10 oclock, A. M., the fol
lowing described Heal Estate, to wit :
One Tract of land containing 128 acres, more or
less 40 acres cleared and under fence, with oue
story and a half log house, double log barn and
plank wash house thereon elected with an apple
orchard thereon, adjoining lands of Abram Ever
sole, Eliza Miller, Benjamin Yoter and Abram
Rice, situate in South Woodbury township, Bed
ford county, and taken in execution as the prop
erty of Henry S. Earnest.
Aiso, one tract of land, containing 't acres,
ui ore or less, all cleared and under f'.nce, with
a two tory slog house weatherboard, frame
bank barn thereon erected, with a good apple
orchard thereon, adjoining lands of jacob Ritur,
Daniel Tetwiler ; also, one tract of land, contain
ing 39 acres' more or less, 2c acres cleared and
under fence, adjoining Jands of Jacob Hitter,
Daniel Tetwiler, Chrisflan L Hoffman and
Martha K. Duncan's heirs, situate in Middle
Woodbury township, Bedford county, and taken
in execution as the property of John B. Eerry.
Also, one lot of ground fronting on Main Street,
821 feet and running back to an alley 182 i feet,
with a two story log house weatherboarded, with
one aud a half story rough cast kitchen attached
and frame stable thereon erected, adjoining lots
of G. W. Shearer on the North, an alley on the
East, Benjamin Kegg on the South, situate in
Kaiusburg Borough, and taken in exceu ion as
the property of A. J. Pennell.
