DEMOCRATS, ATTENTION '. —<HI Fri day, the 19th inst., the borough and township elections take place. The "Republicans" have selected the same day for holding their nominating elec tions. This was done for the purpose of getting out a large vote, and carry ing the township officers in districts where the vote is close. It behooves you, therefore, to turn out in your strength, and spoil this little Radical game. When your enemy seeks to take advantage of you, be ye also ready. Our local correspondent from St. Clair sends us the following: Last week William Oster completed a new bridge across Scrub Grass, near St. Clairsville. There are quite a num ber of difficult fordings in St. Clair and Union townships, where bridges ought to be built, and if the proper efforts are made by the people of that neigh borhood, they will soon be supplied with good crossings. PREMIUMS.—BeIow we gi%*e the amounts paid as premiums, in (he counties named, for the killingofdanger ous and destructive animals and bird-, it will be seen that Huntingdon coun ty takes the lead, while Bedford, to which the Huntingdon county Act was extended a year ago, follows suit. The provisions of the act were not thorough ly understood in ail parts of this coun ty : if they had been, our expenses for the destruction of foxes, owls, Ac., would have been materially larger. We question the propriety of extend ing the Huntingdon act to this county, but so long us it stands on the statute book its provisions must bo carried out.
