THE PRINCE OF ADVERTISERS.— Not many papers which come to our Editorial sanctum that do not contain t head vert iseinent of Hem bold, the great "Bitehu man." ofNew Yor.<. Beginn ing life a poor hoy, he has risen to the position of one of the most extensive dealers in drugs and medicines in New York, by his perseverance under the most discouraging circumstances, and. the free use of printers' ink. We have seen it stated that his expense for ad vertising for the year 1866, will not fall short of £150,000. He has the ut most faith in its benefits, or ho would not venture such a fortune, which to many, seems like "throwing money to the winds;" but far differrent with him. lie says he knows he will reap Iris money back, with more added. Advertisers and all others should give this suggestion a thought.-/) (if// Times, X. V. A HOOD SlGN*. —According to the ex perience of old men, who draw their knowledge from the great book of Na ture, hacked by experience, it is evi dent that the coming season will be a fruitful one. According to immemor able tradition, if the snow of March cluster to the boughs of trees, it is a sure sign that the fruit trees will yield a bountiful harvest. We have noticed the storms of late, and find that the snow remains in the thick coatings on the trees; therefore, if the sign fails not. we shall be blessed with a plenti ful supply of fruit. We suppose the late frosts have something to do with it, hut it is more than probable that the March sign governs the May frosts. RELIGIOUS —There will be services in the Lutheran Church next Sunday morning and evening, at the usual hour, by the Pastor, Rev. J. Q. McAt tee. ONE dollar looks like a very little sum to pay for a preparation that will effect such wonders as are always a ehieved by "Barrett's Vegetable Hair Restorative," now so popular through out the entire country. Let no one be without it. This is the only hair pre paration that received the "first prem ium" of a silver medal at the State Fair in 1866.— Manchester (X. II.) V nioti. —The Vieksburg negroes are devel oping great business talent. One of them recently called upon a debtor, gave hiiii five minutes to settle his ac count, Hud when that time had expired, shot him dead. MUSHROOM PERFUMES.— Of the swarm of inferior perfumes got up to compete with Phalon's"Night-Bloom ing Cereus," scarcely even the mem ory remains. They are literally forgot ten, while the sales of that ne plus ultra of all fragrance constantly increases.— Wins fed Herald.
