Pennsylvania has done nobly. The
people have risen in their might and
administered a terrible rebuke to the
pestiferous agitators that have kept
the country in turmoil and uproar for
•o many years. The Congressional plan
of "Reconstruction" stands condemned
by the voice of the people of Pennsyl
vania. Tho corruptions and enormi
ties of the Radical party are repudiated
by the honest masses. The revo'ution
which threatened to overturn the gov
ernment, has reached its culmination
and is rapidly recoiling. Let Demo
crats arouse and push on the good work.
We did wonders 011 last Tuesday, but
we can do still better next year. Pen n
sylvania is safe for the Democracy for
President, and "as goes Pennsylvania,
so goes the Union." Keep the ball
rolling.

patch from the Chairman of the Dem
ocratic State Committee, dated Oct. 10,
claims Sharswood's election by from
G,OOO to 8,000. Jordan telegraphs that
tlie returns indicate the election of Wil
liams by a small majority. We are
hopeful of Shar.swood's election.

The result in this county is gratify
ing to every patriotic heart. Judge
Sharswood carries the county by a ma
jority considerably larger than that of
last year. At this writing the returns
are not all received, but we think the
Democratic majority in this county is
about 3 >O. Schell for Legislature, has
about o">0; Findlay, abouut 400. The
whole Democratic County Ticket is e
lected by handsome majorities. The

Negro .suffrage said to have been defeat
ed by a large majority.

Found, the day before the election, a
few miles south of Bedford Springs, on
the Cumberland road, the manuscript of
a Radical speech, supposed to have
been dropped by the orator who ad
dressed the Radical meeting at Center
ville. The owner can have the same
by making proof of his property and
paying storage.
LEG BROKEN.— Tuesday afternoon
last, Chalmers, a son of Michael Cook of
this place, whilst engaged in company
with some other boys in gathering wal
nuts, a short distance from town, fell
some thirty feet from a tree and had
his right leg broken, below the knee.
After lying in great pain a considerable
while until his companions gave the
alarm and assistance was procured, he
was removed to the iiouse of Mr. John
Mosser, where the broken bone was set
by Dr. Dutlield, assisted by Dr. Cook,
he was conveyed to the house of his
father in the evening.— Fulton Demo

DEATH OF AN AGED CITIZEN. —Wil-
liam Truax, a veteran of the War of 1812,
died at his home in Thompson Township
this county, on Kist Saturday mornintr,
S ptrmher 12th, after a short illness, in
t!ie 87th year of his age. Mr. Truax
was horn in the year 1731, in the im
mediate vicinity where iie died and
there he live i during nine tenths of a
ceniuary, with the exception of the
time he served in the army under Gen.

CAUTION TO VETERANS.— Oar ex
changes are cautioning veterans
throughout the country against parties
representing themselves to be sent from
Washington, with instructions to sol
diers ami claim agents for the collection
of additional bounties, and also stating
that the soldiers of 1< J1 are entitled to
one hundred and sixty acres ot land.—
The object of these parties appears to
be to obtain the dates, number of regi
ment and officers' signatures astliey ap
pear upon discharge papers; with these
dates forged applications for pay would
probably be made out.

zens of Pennsylvania and New Jersey,
and their names should he a sufficient
guarantee to those who would aid in
rearing oneof the noblest charities that
ever th. ust i tsel f before the people. Ev
ery subscriber to the stock, which costs
hut one dollar per share, not only re
ceives a tine steei-plate engraving,
worth at retail fifty per cent more than
what is paid for the stock, but is also
guaranteed some pre-ent in the great
distribution of the' $300,000 worth of
presents which are to be awarded to
the stockholders. The three largest
presents are worth $70,000. Each
shareholder has an equal chance to ob
tain one of the largest presents. Ev
ery one will obtain some present and a

situated in Broad Top township, Bedford county.
Six of the Tracts are situated contiguous on San
dy Run, which empties into the Raystown branch
of the Juniata, near above Hopewell, on the Hun
tingdon and Broad Top R lilroad, a branch of
which road has been graded up said run toor near
said land. These six tracts are all goodeoal lands
and form one of the best coal estates in the Broad
Top coal field, and can be minod on Sandy Run
and Six Mile Run. They can be mined together,
or each of the tracts can he mined separately, ad
vantageously.
The remaining tract is situated several miles
from the above tracts, near the head of Sandy
Run ;is a good coal tract and set with excellent
timber.

Roberts or Mr. Fulton, Engineers and Geologists,
who have examined the lands.
A map of the lands can be seen or had by apply
ing to the undersigned.

TERMS.—One-third of the purchase money on
the day of the confirmation of the sale by the
Court, one-third in one year, and one-third in
