n< w counterfeit notes of the green ba 'k
denomination have been circulated in
many of our large cities. \V ogive the
dc-'Tiption of them compared with the
genuine, in order to put business men
on their guard: 20s—imitation; read
on top, Act of March 8, I*B3. The f<s- \
male F in the centre, with left hand j
resting on a shield and right hand on
a sword, has the iiead turned to the j
left and the eyes looking in the same j
direction. In the genuine the head is ;
turned the same way, but the eyes
are looking front. The foot in the
counterfeit is distinctly seen, and counts j
four toes; in the genuine it F not visi

"CnitedStatesof America,"the shading ;
runs all through the letters ; in tin- gen

only; showing white between.

well calculated to deceive.

RAILROAD ELECTION.—The annual
mebg of the stockholders of the
Pit ■burg and C'onnellsville Railroad
CiJftpany was held in Pittsburg on
Monday last week. The old Board of ,
Director was re-elected,

Fettorman, John Fleming, Williatn
Phillips, \V;n. Baldwin, Joseph Pen
nock, Cyrus Meyers, Benj. Deford,
John A. Thompson, John Hopkins,
Joseph It. Marston and W. W.Taylor.
The annual reports show the road to
be in a prosperous condition. 380,044
passengers were carried over the road
during the past year, and 315,730 tons
of freight were transported. The gross
earnings of the road amounted to sk>7,-
120 37, an increase over last year of
$(>2,76G 51. The report concludes as fol
lows :
•' We are conscious that there has ex
isted a feeling of disappointment at
the apparent apathy of your Board,
after the successful issue of the case at
Williamsport. To meet and remove
this feeling we would reiterate the
statement that financial negotiations
are impossible, so long <is this title to
the franchises is in litigation. This
difficulty once removed, the existing
management of the road will be aide
to push the work to completion with
out any delay or hindrance from lack
means.''
