ed by the Rev. J. A. Childs, of Phila
delphia, Secretary of the Board of Mis
sions. He congratulated the people j
of Bedford upon the happy events of j
the day, and that they were at length ;
| to have an Episcopal church. Every •!
| thing seemed auspicious for success, !
and Heaven itself seemed to smile up- i
! on the work, for it was one of the I
! hrig'itest mornings that ever shown
upon our earth, and not a cloud could

The visit of Mr. Appleton was quit*
i unexpected, and it added a remarkable j

In addition to the corner stone cere
| monies, services were held in the Lu

: convocation. On Tuesday evening
! Bishop Lee preached an eloquent Scr
; moo, and on Tliursday evening the
rite of confirmation was administered,
and the Holy Cummunhm in the pre
sence of one of the largest congrega
tions ever assembled in Bedford. Be
fore adjourning the Convocation adopt
ed the following resolutions, viz:

tendered to the Pastor and Trustees of
the Lutheran Church for their frequent
and constant courtesies and kindness in
allowing us the use of their church.
