very attentive and the best feeiittg pre
vailed. We were much pleased with
the intelligence attd good Jiehavoir of
the jKtople of Fishertown and vicinity,
and shall never forget the kindly wel
come they gave us. The meeting ad
journed with three cheers for Ulymer
and the Union.
A very large and enthusiastic meet
ing of the I lemocrats and Conservatives
of Napier township was held at the
Point School House, m-.tr Pearson Ntu
debaker's, on Saturday evening last.

the meeting was organized bv the ap
pointment of Win. Rock, Esq., Presi
dent; Peter Winegarduer, Fred. Mil
ler, T. B. Studebaker, Jacob 11. King,

Vice Presidents; and Richard McMni
lin and John Detibaugh. Secretaries.
The meeting was addressed by J.G.
Fisher and J>. F. Meyers. The great
est entliudasm prevailed. Old Napier
is wide awake and wiii exceed herself
in tb<" majority she will give this Jail
for the Democratic Union ticket. The
Democrats of Napier township area
noble band and never surrender.
A grand rally of the Democrats of the
tipper end of Cumberland Valley was
held at Teaberry school house, on Fri
day evening hist. {The list of officers
of this meeting has not been handed
us. | Speeches were made by J.L. Lew
is and J. W. Dicker son, Esq-. Mr.
Lewis made a most eloquent appeal to
lhe audience to vote down Radical I Ms
unionism which was well received.
Mr. Lewis was in the service during
the greater pari of the war and was a
prisoner at the battle of Gettysburg.

was organized at this meeting.
()n Saturday evening last the Veter
an Corps of Southampton turned out at
Adam-'Mills, as well as conservative
men of the opposition. On motion of
Wm. Adams, Ksip, Michael Miller,the
old forest-oak of Democracy, who has
voted the oneticket at one poll for over
sixty years, was called to the chair, as
sisted by David Rowland and David
llowsare as Vice Presidents, and Ad
am Fetter, Kdw. Xorthcraft and Jacob
Keefer as Secretaries. When feelings
of patriotism bring the Mills, the Fet
ters, the Rowlands and Howsares, near
ly all of whom are Iwjrdering four-score
years, to a night meeting, it is not hard
to guess results. The meeting was ad
dressed by Palmer and Shannon and
the enthu iasm was great. Your cor
respondent, mentions with great grati
fication the hot col fee and other good
tilings provided for him and others af
ter the meeting was over, hy Mrs.
Adams.
On Friday evening last, the Demo
crats and Conservative Republicans as
sembled ut I'erdew's school house. The
meeting was well and largely attended.
()n motion of Arch. Perdew, Esq.,
Francis Donahoe was eidled to the chair,
Christopher Wagner and B. S. Rice
were elected Vice Presidents, and John
Casteel and Lennox Ash were elected
Secretaries. Ladies turned out as well
as old men and young. The meeting
was addressed by John Palmer aed O.
E. Shannon, and tlie very best feeling
prevailed. There are no "Bedford L
qual Rights Leagues No. 8S" there,
nor no white people to lie outraged ly
them.
The gallant Ihtnoemcy of Juniata
township, as-entitled at <fardill's Store,
on Monday evening last. A large crowd
was present. On motion of P. L. Leh

CLASSICAL SCHOOL IN BEDFORD. —
We are glial to he able to announce to
our readers, that a Classical School, for
young ladies and gentlemen, is to be
revived in Bedford,similar toliiat kept
by the ltev. John Lyon, and will open
at tlie hitter's school house on Monday
the first of Oetolier. The teacher will
ie Mr. John T. iluggurd, Bachelor of
Arts, formerly a graduate of the Toron
to University, who, we are informed,
is thoroughly proficient as a Latin,
Greek and French scholar, and also in
Mathematics and the different branches
of a tirst class English education. We
hope the school will IK* well sustained.

ward the proposed erect ion of a Rolling
Miil in the Northern part of Bedford
county. This is an enterprise in which

ty two years who have resided in the election dis

entitled to vote therein, on conviction, he shall
he sentenced to pay fine not less than one hun
dred or more than one thousand dollars, and he
