JUNIATA VS. SOCIAL CLUB OF HUN
TINGDON. —On Thursday afternoon,
July 23, a match game was played be
tween the Social Base Ball Club of
Huntingdon, and the Juniata Base
Ball Club of this place, upon the
grounds of the latter. The Juniatas
played at a great disadvantage, owing
to the illness of their Captain, Alex.
Lyon, who was able to play but a few
innings in the game. Reamer, catch
er of the Juniata, was also indisposed.
Still, considering all the circumstan
ces, the Juniatas made a good tight.
The score of 20 on the 7th inning, run
up by the Social, gave them the victo
torv. But the Social won the game
fairly, and we say "honor to whom
honor is due." The following is the

table citizen of Juniata county, died

—Gov. Welles, of Louisiana, is de
termined to resuscitate the bogus Banks
Convention of 1864. He has issued a
proclamation calling for an election, on
the 3<l of September, of members to
j represent in the Convention the par
ishes that were nonrepresented in 1864.

to feel that another sister in Israel and, aj may be
truly gaid, a nursing eisier of the church, has
gone from toil to rest. Pure and dignified in
sentiment, fettling and conduct, the deceased was
a member of the Winebrennerian Church. Sue
remained a constant member of the same to the
latest hour of ber earthly existence. Her end
was peace.
