we repaired to Mr. Fletcher's house,
where we found upon a table in the sit
tinig-rooni. a nunilxT of l.atin books,
work- on the higher mathematics, and
■ ther-. hool Look-indicating that some
p-.-rsnn of considerable education !<lg
ol in the house. We at once bianied
the teacher of the school with ail this
-how of learning, but on inquiry we
found that the books belonged to Mr.
Fletcher's son- who used them a-text
book- in tiie school which was then
taught at that place by a Mr. Vaughn.
Mr. Fletcher informed us that quite a
number of Mr. Vaughn's students had
advanced to the study of the Classics,
Algebra, Ac. We learn that the school
is, at present, taught by a young gen
tleman who keep- it up to it- standard.
It is really one of the best, (if not tin
very In-t , country schools in the coun

i- the fact that there isn't a single "He
publican" voter in the* whole school
district. _
