After four years of civil war. ioreed upon the
people of the United States by the violence-of i
sectional parties, w# now enter upon a new era
of unity and of progress. North and South, a cor- I
dial co operation of all honest men is needed to re
pair the waste of war, to establish our Peace ;
through the triumph of sound constitutional prin- '
ciples in the administration of the government,
and our unity by guarding all that makes Union
desirable.
The great Democratic Party, whose history in i
the past is th history of private prosperity, of j
territorial ex:ension. and of public order in Amer
ica, stands now, as it has ever stood, the Party of !
the nation, siperior to all sectional passions in its '
loyalty to the rights of coequal States and to the j
liberties of tie individual citizen. Once more its
voice will be aeard, once more its adherents will
be rallied to ts time honored standards in every
city and towi of the Northern and of the South
cm States.
To the primiples of the great Democratic Par
ty of the Naton. THE WORLD has borne firm wit
ness throughiut the ordeal of civil war. It will
now be devotsd to the not less arduous task of ap i
plying those principles to the solution of the many
and weightyjuestions—financial, social, political
—which eoim upon us with the return of peace.
Faithful to tie real interests of all sections, it will
be enslaved y the prejudices and blinded by the |
prepossession* of none.
That the principles of American Democracy |
should thus ic uttered, with no weak or uncer
tain voice, lire in the great metropolitan center
of American .nterprise and commerce, is a matter
of such impotanceto every citizen as must recom
mend THE W>RLD to the co-operation and sup

his articles. He retains his Office and Laboratory

POWDERS
1 THESE Powders have proved after a trial of
! several years, to be superior to any preparation of
| the kind in use The chief superiority of these
! powders arises front the fact that they are com
i posed of medicines that have Laxative. Tonic and
j Purifying properties. The laxative ejects crudi
! ties from the stomach and intestines, the tonic
gites strength to the system of the Horse, and th<
i purifying medicines contained in them cleanse
the blood, and lay the foundation for a vigorous
ami healthy circulation. The use of them improves
; the wind, strengthens the appetite and gives tnc
I horse a fine, smooth and glossy skin—thus imprm
! iug the appearance, vigor and spirit of this noble
| animal.
j These powders are not intended, as most pow
| ders tire, to bloat the animal, so as to give him the
1 appearance of being fat when not really so—but.
: to remove the disease and promote his general
i health.
I These powders will strengthen the stomach and
; intestines, cleanse them from offensive matter, aid
| bring them to a healthy state. They are a sure
preventive of Lung Fever, and a certain remedy
I for all diseases incident to the Horse, as Glanders.
Yellow Water, Distempers. Founder, Heaves
Slnveirng. Coughs, Fevers. Loss of Appetite, and
Vital Energy. Ac—These Powders, it"used two or
three times a week, through the winter and spring,
your horse will never get the Lung Fever, Colic or
Botts. A few doses of these powders will remove
the worst cough, on any horse. Were owners oi
horses to feed a few ot these powders every year,
they might save the lives of many valuable horses
MILCH COWS.
The properties this powder possesses in increas
ing the quantity of milk in cows, gives it an im
portance and value which should placo it in the
hands of every person keeping a cow. In fatten
ing cattle, it gives them an appetite, loosens their
hide, and makes them thrive much faster.
HOGS.
In all diseases of swine, as coughs, ulcers in the
lungs and liver. Ac., by putting from half a paper
to a paper of these powders in a barrel of swill
the above diseases can be cured or entirely pre
vented. By using these powders the hog cholera
