EOLLOWAY'S OINTMENT.
Long marches, sore and stiff joints, blistered and
j inflamed feet, all these the Soldier must endure,!
MOTHERS, REMEMBER THIS when your sons j
are grasping their muskets to meet danger, think j
what relief a single pot ol this ALL HEALING j
i and COOLING Salve will give to the one you love
when far away from home and friends. It hardens
! and makes tough the feet so that they can endure
j gleat fatigue. It soothe* and relieves the inflamed
1 and stiffened joints, leaving them supple, strong and
i vigorous, while for
Sabre Cuts and Gunshot Wounds,
It stands unequalled, removing and pieventing eve
ry vestige of inflammation and gently drawing the
edges together, it quickly and completely heals the
most frightful wounds.
Wives and Sisters of <ur Volunteers.
Y'ou cannot put into ths Knapsacks of your Hus-
I bands and Brothers, a more valnable or more neces
i sary gift than a supply of this
Extraortliuary .Military Salve.
The lonely sentry walking his rounds at night,
exposed to drenching rains and chill night air, is
often seized with most VIOLEN 1 PAINS, COUGH
and SUFFOCATING HOARSENESS, first symp
toms of QUICK CONSUMPTION, but if supplied
with HOLTOWAY's PILLS and HOLLOWAY'S OINTMENT,
j all danger is averted, a lew Pills taken night and
morning, and The Ointment briskly robbed twice a
day over the throat and chest Will remove the SE
\ EREST PAIN'S and stop the most distressing and

whole Aimy,
Soldier* Attention!
See to your own health, do not trust to the Army
supplies although most valuable. These PILLS and
OINTMENT huvebeen thoroughly tested, they are
the only remedies used in the European Camps and
Barracks, for over forty years Doctor Holloway has
oiipplied a)' the Armies in Europe, and during the
I CRIMEAN CAMPAIGN he established a depot at
Balaclava, for the exclusive sale of these GREAT j
I REMEDIES, many a time his special Agent there
has sold over a (on in weight o! the Ointment in a
I single day. These terrible and fatal enemies of the
j SOLDIER JN CAMP,
, Diarrhea, Qyienlery, Scurvtf, Sores Sf Scrofu

all disappear like a charm he'ore these PILLS and

Do not let these brave men perish hi disease,
place in their hands these PRECIOUS REMEDIES,
: that will Enable them to resist the dangerous expo

they cannot avoid, and what is more, cannot fre

if our brave men have only to put their band- into

MAY 19, IB6o.—Kliea S., net. 23, single, never
was very strong. Two year,; igo she bad an attack
of acute rheumatism, from which she was confined
■ to her be'' lor two weeks, and sub-equently l'rom a
relapse for four more. She has been well sinct then
: tiil last Saturday ; while engaged in house-cleaning
: ihe took cold, had p;in in her back, felt cold but
bad no decided chill. Two days later her ankles
began to swell, which wa, followed by swelling of
j the knee joints anr of the bands. She has now dull
j pain in her shoulders, and her knuckles are very
! tender, red and painful ; both hands are affected,
I but the right is most so. This, then, is a case ot
| acute rhetima'ism, or, as it is now fashionably call
' ed, rheumatic lever. It is a well marked typical
j case. We will carefully watch the case, and from
| time to time call your attention to the various
! symptoms which piesent themselves. My chief
i object in bringing her before yon now, is to call
| your attention to a remedy which has recently been
\ recommended in the treatment of rheumatism. 1
: mean propylamine* Dr. Awenarius, ot St. Peters
j burg, recommends it in the highest terms, having
i derived great benefit lrom its use in 250 cases which
| came under his care. Various commendatory tes
timonia's respecting it have appeared in our jour
nals, and I propose therefore to give it another trial.
I must confesss I am always incredulous as to the
worth of new remedies, which aie vaunted as spe
cifics; but this comes to us recommended so highly, I
that we are bound to give it a trial.
SAME CASE FOUR DAYS LATER!
MAY 2.3, ISOO.—I will now exhibit jo you the pa
tient for whom I prescribed Propylamine, ami who
was then laboring under an attack of acute rheuma
tism. She cas steadily taken it in doses of three
grains, every two hours, (intermitting it at night).
The day after you saw her, 1 found her much more
comfortable, better than she expected to be for a
week or more, judging from her other attack. (The
patient now walked into the room.) Ihe improve
ment hassteadilv progressed, and you cannot fail to
notice a marked change in the appearance of her
joints, which are now nearly ot their natural size.
Thus far our experiment would have seemeo very
successfuil; but gentlemen, we must wait a little
while before we car. give a decided opinion as to
what is to be the result.
Here is another patient who was placed on the
use of the same medicine on Sunday last; she has
long been suffering from chronic rheumatism, and I
found her at that time with an acute attack super
vening upon her chronic affection. The-wrists and
knuckles were much swollen and tense. She took
the chloride of propylamine in three grain doses
every two hours, and you wili perceive that the
swelling of the joints has much diminished.
THREE DAYS LATER!!
MAY 26, 1860 This is the case of acute rheum
atism treated with propylamine, the first ot those to
which I Called your attention at our last clinic. She
is still very comfortable, and is now taking three
grains thrice daily.
In this case it has seemed to be followed by very
satisfactory results. The second case to which
your attehtion was called at our last lecture, has
also continued to do well. I wisl now bting before
r*f ~
' alter you saw her, 1 four);! i.

tender. His tongue is furred; skin, at present,
dry, though there has been much sweating. Hi*
* pulse is full and strong, and i bout 90, He has now
used propslarntne lor twenty-four hours.
This gentleman is what may be called a strictly
•, typical case of acute rheumatism. There was ex
posure to cold and wet, and thia exposure : s follow
ed bv a feeling of coldness, severe articular pain,
beginning as it usually does, in the lower joints.
, | There is lever and the profuse sweating, so gener
ally attendant on acute rheumatism.
1 did not brir.g this patient before you with the
, intention of giving yon a lect re on all the points
connected with rheumatism, but to again give a tii
al to the new remedy we are testing, and to exhibit
to you Ihis typical case, as I hsve called it, than
which there could not be a fairer opportunity for
testing the medicine in question. We are, there
fore, avoiding the use of all other medicines, even
anodynes, that there may be no misgivings as to
; which was the efficient remedy. You shall see the
case at a future clinic.
THE RESI LE.
A FAVORABLE VERDICT.
JUKE 9, IS6o.—The next of our convalescents if
the c of acute rheumatism before you at our c'in
; ic of May 2oth, which 1 then called a Typical ease,
and which it was lemarked was a fair opportunity
, for testing ihe worth of our new letnedj. It was
therefore steadily given in thiee grain doses every
I two hours for four days. The patient has got along
I very nicely, ant is now able to walk about, as you
1 see. Jdo not kr.sitate to say that I have never seen
jas set"re a ease of acute rheumatism so soon restored
' to health as lias man has hern, and withoutlcing pre
pared to decide positively as t the value of the reme
dy ice have used, I fe-.l bound to state that in the rages
in u-hieh we have tried the Chloride of Propylamine,
the patients have regained their health, much earlier
\ than under the treatment ordinarily pursued. 1 wish,
! gentlemen, you would yourselves try it, and report
I the results.
For a fnil report of which the above is a con
: densed extract, see the Philadelphia Medical and
Surgical Reporter. It is the ieport titer a fair trial

makes it unnecessary to give numerous certificates
from astonished doctors and rejoicing patients.
