A TERRUILE CRIME REVEALED! —We pub- j
lisheJ, about two weeks ago, a detailed ac- j
count of the finding of the bones and clothing 1
of a man in the woods about sixteen n.iles ftom ;
this city. This puhlicaiioa has elicited a full ,
explanation ol the mystery, revealing the name
residence, and occupation of the unfortunate
man, and the circumstances of his death. His
name was John Hickey. He was a railroad i
contractor, and was murdered and roboed of a ;
large sum of money in August last, and left
hy his murderer to rot in the woods wheie lie
was found. The name and present whereabouts
of the probable murderer are known, and the
proper legal authorities are already in hot pur
suit of him. We cannot give further particu
lars at present, but shall lay the whole matter
before our readers at the earliest practicable mo
ment.— Detroit Free Press.

FATAL ACCIDENT TO A CLERGYMAN. —On the
14-th inst., as the Rev. Dudley A. Tyng, of
Philadelphia, was witnessing the operation of a
threshing machine on his farm at Brookfield,
near that city, his right arm was caught by the
cogs and seriously injured. At first it was
thought the arm could be saved, for it was only
severely lacerated, but it was soon found that,
that could not be done, and on the 17th it was
amputated at the shoulder. But the inflamma
tion had risen so high, and the sufferer had be
come so completely prostrated that moitification
followed, and his sufferings were ended by death
on the 10th. His age was only thirty-five years,
but in his short career, he had become one of
the first men of the country. He was particu
larly distinguished in the summer of 1856, and
subsequently, by his bold preaching against sla
v*ry, while hi* orthodoxy and devotion to the
.Episcopal Church remained above question.—
He seas the son of the celebrated Dr. Stephen H.
Tyng, of St. George's Chuich, New Yoik. in
jinnouticiag his death, the Philadelphia ,Yortk
.imeriam says:
His father, the Rev. Dr. Tyng, was at the
bedside of the sufferer, ar his spirit took its
flight to another and a brighter sphere. A
widow and several children have been left to
hiournthis fearful bereavement. Mr. Tyng has
passed away in the midst of his usefulness, and
when he was building a new Church, and un
der the most favorable auspices. The Philadel
phia Press thus sketches his character: "His
thorough independence, his cordial sympathy
•with all the great philanthropic movements of
the day. his remarkable eloquence, and his gen
ial manners, have won lor him a position rarely
attained at so early a period of lite, bv any one
in the same profession."

WILL MEDICINE CUKE A CHRONIC DISEASE—Chron
ic Diseases, as a general thing, are more difficult to
cure than those termed acute, for the reason that the
tissues are often injured in their structure. It usu
ally takes ?. longer lime to cure Chronic than recent
diseases, but still they are curable when a proper
remedy is applied. Diseases of the Lungs, Bronchia,
and Pulmonary apparatus should not be sutlered to
continue long, as they generally lay the foundation
of incurable diseake. One of tbe best remedies for
the cure of these complaints is Dr. Keyset's PECTO
RAL SVRUP, prepared by that gentleman, at! 10 Wood
Street, Pittsburgh, Pa, and sold by Samuel Brown,
Bedford, & Colvin & Robinson, Schellsburg.
A SUBLIME PICTURE Almost every household in
the land presents pictures that are not exceeded in
sublimity by any thing in nature. The patient toil
ing of a woman with a needle is a sublime, but sail
picture indeed; one that it would be w*ll for human
ity to have removed from every home circle, by the
introduction of GROVF.R. IY BAKER'S Family Sewing
Machine, which does more beautiful and better sew
ing than can be done by hand. It is, unquestionably,
the best in the market lor family use, and every fam
ily should have one.

Caution .\olice.
Persons living at a distance should be extremely |
cautious of whom they order Lottery Tickets orCer- i

flooded with bonus and swindling Lotteries. Kvery I

ey in them. Capital Prizes of from $20,000 to $lO,- {
000 head their schemes —with tickets at One Dollar, j
SIUO.OOO Capital Prizes are offered, tickets $5. All
such, in every instance, aie frauds; if money is sent j
for tickets, it is so much thrown away without the
shadow of a chance of getting a prize. Beware of I
all Lotteries where the Capital Prize is unusually !
large in compar son to the price of tickets. In eve- j
ry instance where large prizes are offered for a small I
cost of tickets, put it down as a certain lraud.
The Kentucky State Lottery for the benefit of the j
