FOE ALL THE PURPOSES OF A
FAMILY PHYSIC.
THKKE ha* loan existed a public demand for an effec
tive portative pill which could be relied 011 as sure and
p.'r:< Vtlv safe in its operation. This lias bom prepared .
tii meet ih it demand, and an extensive trial of its virtues
ha conclusively shown with what success it accomplishes ;
the purpose designed. It is easy to make a physical pill,
hat not e:i: \ to make the best of all pi'is —one which
should have none of the objections, but all the advan
tage-, of every other. This has been attempted here,
and with what success vvc would re-pecthilly submit to
the public de* ision. It has been unfortunate for the
patient hitherto that almost every purgative inwdioiue is
acrimonious and irritating to bowels. l itis is not.
Many of thorn produce so much griping pain and revul
sion in the svsteiu as to more than counterbalance the
good to be derived from them. These pills produce no !
irritation or jxtin, unless it arise from a previously exist
ing obstruction or derangement in the bow. ls. Being
purt '.v vegetable, no harm ran arise ftvim their itse itt
•Jtiv iptantitv ; but it is better that any medicine should
ru- .ken judiciously. Minute directions lor their use
in the several diseases to which they are applicable are
given on the box. Among the complaints which have
been speedily cured by them, we nta'v mention Liver
Complaint, in its various forms of Jaundice, Indigestion,
Languor, and Loss of Appetite, Listlessnoss, Irritability,
Jlili us Headache, Bilious Fever, Fever and Ague, Pain
in the Side and Loin- : for. in truth, all these are but
the consequence of diseased action in the liver. As an
aperient, thev afford prompt and sure relief in Costive- |
nes*, Piles. Colic, Dysentery, Humors, Scrofula and
Sctirvv. Colds with soreness of the body, Ulcers and im- !
purity of the blood; in short, any and every case where
a purgative is required.
1 hi'V have also produced some singularly successful
cures In Rheumatism, Gout. Dropsy. <raved, Erysipelas,
Pelpitaticii of the Heart, Pains in the llaek, Stomach,
and side. They should be freely taken iti the spring of
the rear, to pttr.fv the blood and prepare the system for
the change of seasons. An occasional dose stimulates
the stomach and bowels into healthy action, and res ton
the appetite and vigor. They purify the blood, and, by
their stimulant action on the circulatory system, reno
vate the strength of the body, and restore the wasted or
diseased energies of the whole organism. Hence an oc
casional dose is advantageous, even though no serious
derangement exists; but unnecessary dosing should
never be carried too far, as every purgative medicine t
reduces tlm strength, when taken to excess. The thou
sand eases in which a physic is required cannot lie enu
merated hero, but thev suggest themselves to the reason
of every bodv : and this pill is found to answer a better
purpose than any thing which has hitherto been available
to mankind. W here their virtues are once known, the
public will no longer doubt what remedy to employ when
in need of a cathartic medicine. Being sugar-wrapped
they are pleasant to take, and being purely vegetable, no
harm can arise from their use in any quantity
For minute directions, see wrapper uu the Box.

Tuts remedy has won for itself such notoriety from its
cures of every variety of pulmonary disease, that it is
entirelv unnecessary to recount the evidences of its vir
tues in any community where it has been employed. So
wide is tiie field of its usefulness, and so numerous the
eases of its cure-, that almost every section of the coun
try abounds in persi us publicly known, who have been

the lungs by it- u-e. When once tried, its superiority
over every other niodieine i.f its kind is too apparent to
