W. V/. CAMPBELL, Principal.
This inslitulioi,, hitherto under the rare of Rev.
John Lyon, will henceforth be conducted by the pre
.-ent Principal. The past history of the Academy
will, we tru-t, be a sufficient guaranty of its luture
efficiency. The branches taught will be the same as
heretofore. To MASTER FBISCIPLES will be consid
ered the most important pursuit of the pupils; and
while it will be the constant business of the Instruc
tor to impait knowledge, it will also be his aim to
lead his pupils to make a practical application of
their acquisitions. To load the mind with innumer
able formulas, without causing it to use them, would
be like placing a bow in a child's hand, without
teaching him how to bend it. In fine, it shall be our
object, as it has ever been, to lead the pupil to
THINK.
We iook forward confidently to the patronage of
this community, which has thus fat been so gener
ously extended, and by an undiminished assiduity,
we hope to merit your support.
