Tiik Tammany Convention demands "one
currency for the Government and tha people,"
&c. Will it be a little more explicit, and tell
us which? If gold is tho one currency which
they demnnd for "peusioner and soldier, pro-,
duccr and bond-holder," what becomes of
their threat to pay the bonds in greenbacks ?
And it greenbacks are the one currency which
lliey demand for all, what becomes of their
admission that the bonds which aro on their

Dean Richmosu was never an admirer of
Mr. Seymour. At the Democratic National
Convention of 1 SCO, at Cluutaton, whilo the
committees were eihployed and tho members
wanted to fill up llio time, it was determined
to have a speech from the bluff old New York
er. A messenger came to him with a mess
age that he was desired to ciflne iu and speak.
Dean mouthed a h'.'go execration, and then
refused: "If I speak I shall say something
which will como up again. Call on Seymour;
ho can talk without saying anything."

Tim New York Herald say3 very truly :
So far ns the Slate ol New York Is concerned
wo havo no doubt that her fifty thousand ma
jority cast last year lor the Democratic ticket
will be entirely wiped out next November,
and that the Stato will go about the same
number tho other way. It is possiblo that
in the several Congressional districts where
sound conservative men aro nominated the
votemnybo ca9t against the Radicals; but
there can be no question that the people will
show at tho ballot box iliat they have not for
gotten tho lessons of the war.
It is now stated that Gen. Blair burned tho
residence of Gen. Wado Hampton in Bouth
Caroliua. We Ibrget which of tho Rebel offi
cers burned Uen. Blair's residence near
Washington. What a delightful evidence of
the healing of tho wounds of the great Civil
War would bo presented if it should appear
that Vado Hampton burned Blair's residence;
and now Hampton supports Blair for Yice
President, and Blair echoes Hampton's policy
of reviving the Rebellion on the question of
colored suffrage.
I saw two clouds at morning ,

And in the dawn I hoy floated on

Tub llcrall says: "Tho dio is cast. Tho
Democratic Convention has decided that our
next President shall be Gen. Grant. There is
nothing in Seymour, nothing iu his record,
nothing in his platform that will bring a single
recruit to tho Democratic party, but every
tliing to rally the wholo fl atting voto of tho
Uuitcd States, with all the Conservative llo
publicans, around tho gloiious banner of
Grant. Seymour against Grant will
bring all the Republicans Into line, and tho
result will be another political reaction, which
will give New York to Grant by 20, 30, or 40,
000 majority."
Hkiib are some verses which tho Demo
crats arc expected to sing at their meetings :
Sing a song of Seymour,
And Blair full of rye;
Every Tammany Injun 's
Finger's iu the .
When the pie is opened,
Little birds will sing,
"Seymour, Seymour wants to be,
But never will be king."

And nips off his nose.

The following appears in a dispatch from
St. Louis to the Chicago Timu, (Democratic, )
dated July 9? .,
Gen. Sherman, who has boon very obsequi
ous to Grant since the latter arrived here, got
out of a street ear, when quite a crowd of
joyous Conservatives surrouuded him, asking
him what be thought of the nomination of
Seymour, and whether he would support It
He replied : ''Bad nomination ; will be beat
en alto pieces; Grant will be elected.''
Voices In the crowd replied j "We don't Want
the support of house burners." ''You wanted
the nomination yourself1," "YoiTwsnt Grant
