week's reported auction volume included 39
percent over 600 lbs and 43 percent heifers
C ompared to last week, feeder cattle and calves
sold mostly steady across the nation with in
stances of I 00-2 00 lower on light pre-holidav
receipts
Most of the weakness was posted on heavy
cahes and lighter vearlings weighing from
600-750 lbs. each of which need to go straight to
the feedlot but will not finish before summer
Some firmness was noted on heavy yearlings
that will be done in early spring

cent higher than last vear (heavier

were shghtlv lighter than expected
with 97 percent of last vear s total
being put on teed in November and
89 percent oi 2002’s numbers were
sold in November, which was sig
mficantlv higher than most anal
ysts had projected
