termine the feasibility of a farmer
owned soybean produc
tion facility in Southcen
tral Pennsylvania.
This opportunity
would aim to create
value-added opportuni
ties for farmers, soybean
meal consumers, and
other agriculture-related
businesses in the region,
while providing an envi
ronmentally-safe source
of a diesel fuel.
This project developed
as a result of a meeting
of farmers, feed mill
owners, state and federal
agency representatives,
soybean meal consumers,
and distributors of bio
diesel. The consensus of
the group was to form a
steering committee with
a goal to begin the evalu
ation and developmental
stages of the project.
The feasibility study
will be administered
through REDDI. It is to
be completed by March
2004, according to plan
ners.
