Compared to Thursday, Lean slaughter cows
sold firm to 1.00 higher, with fleshier cows trad
ing mostly steady to weak; although there was
not near as many Premium White and Breaking
cows that were available late last week. The
quality of the supply fluctuated heavily
throughout the sale, as did the weigh-ups, and
was not as fancy as the Thursday run. However,
prices remain good for most classes. Slaughter
bulls sold 2.00-3.00 higher. The cattle supply in
cluded 204 slaughter cows, 45 slaughter bulls,
23 slaughter steers, 25 slaughter heifers, and
174 head of feeder cattle.

Sheep and Lambs: Compared to last Monday,
slaughter lambs sold sharply higher on a high
quality run. Demand remains high for light
weight fresh weaned lambs as several small
packages sold over the 300.00 mark. Slaughter
sheep also sold sharply higher on an above aver
age run, while bucks sold mostly steady. Buyer
attendance was moderate, however bidding was
active through the duration of the sale.

Slaughter Goats: Compared to last Monday,
Kid goats and Yearlings sold steady to firm.
Nannies sold mostly 4.00 to 6.00 higher. Billies
sold mostly steady to 10.00 higher; while Weth
ers sold steady to firm on a good test. Bidding
was active through the duration of the sale with
good to moderate buyer attendance. Nannies
were in good supply, with good demand seen
for heavier weight Nannies and Billies. The
quality of the run was mostly average with the
exception of several nice packages of Kid and a
good mix of Wether goats. All goats are sold by
the head, with estimated weights. Kids: Selec

Compared to Thursday, there were not
enough slaughter steers for a market test as
there were only 65 head available on Monday,
and 31 head on Tuesday.
Slaughter Holstdns and heifers were also in
light supply, and were not tested. Lean slaugh
ter cows sold I.OQ-2.00 lower, with the fleshier
supply trading 1.50-3.00 lower. Slaughter bulls
sold with a firmer undertone. The combined
two-day run included 98 head of slaughter
steers, 28 head ofjlaughter heifers, 435 head of
slaughter cows, IS head of slaughter bulls, and
40 head of feeder cattle.
Note: A special feeder sale in scheduled for
December 15th at the Vintage Sales Stables set
to begin right after the fat cattle sale.

Graded run sold steady to firm. Greatest de
mand was seen for calves weighing between 95
and 105 lbs. Buyer attendance was good with
bidding moderately active. Holstein heifers sold
mostly steady on a light supply. The PA De
partment of Agriculture graded 862 head of
bulls for the graded sale, with an estimated 78
percent of the graded run going lido veal barns.
