Compared to last week, slaughter lambs were
mostly steady to weak. Slaughter ewes finished
the week mostly firm to 1.00 higher. Goats were
steady. Demand and trading activity were mod
erate. Ramadan holiday demand remained
strong. There was good demand for goats and
ewes from the Latino trade ahead of the
Thanksgiving holiday. Carlot lamb carcass
prices were sharply lower for weights under 40
lb. Prices for carcass weights above SO lb ended
mixed. Confirmed sales this week about 29%
slaughter lambs, 58% feeder lambs, 13% ewes
and an additional 812 head of goats. Total
sheep and lambs sales 1950, last week 1450 and
year ago 675.
